un'idea può essere stimato dalla quantità e dall'importanza delle citazioni che ottiene,
e perciò i Trekkie dovrebbero essere contenti che altri colossi del bene
immateriale come la Walt Disney Italia e la Marvel Comics spesso plagiano Star Trek. |
The viability of an idea can be
assessed from the volume and importance of its quotations, so Trekkies
should be glad that other intangible property majors like Walt
Disney Italia and Marvel Comics
often plagiarize Star Trek. |

questi colossi riconoscono il loro debito culturale, e così possiamo distinguere tra
plagio onesto e meno onesto. |

their cultural debt, so we could distinguish between honest and less-than-honest
plagiarism. |

magazine Wiz (November 1998 issue) the beginning of a Hulk
story in which a professor who once was Bruce Banner's mentor, but is now
crippled by multiple sclerosis, proposes Bruce Banner to enter a teleport chamber. |

Bruce Banner si rimaterializzerebbe libero dalla mutazione genetica acquisita che lo
trasforma spesso in Hulk. |
Since the teleport device is equipped
with what Trek authors term a "biofilter", Bruce Banner would
rematerialize free of the acquired genetical mutation that often turns him into Hulk. |

uno scopo nascosto: vuole raccogliere l'informazione genomica di Hulk in modo che, quando
egli stesso subirà il teletrasporto, il suo stesso genoma verrà fuso con quello di Hulk. |
The professor has a covert goal: he
plans to collect Hulk's genomic info so, when he himself undergoes teleportation, his own
genome will be merged with Hulk's. |

idea, the mentor admitted to taking it from Star Trek. |

può essere perciò considerata una plagiara un po' onesta (la locuzione "un
po'" è motivata da un anello mancante nella catena delle ammissioni: l'uso
terapeutico del teletrasporto e la forma delle camere furono tratte da un film di
fantascienza non Trek). |
Marvel Comics can therefore be
considered a somewhat honest plagiarist (the adverb "somewhat"
is motivated by a missing link in the chain of admissions: the therapeutical use of
teleportation and the shape of the teleport chambers were taken by a non-Trek SF film). |

The same cannot be said of Walt Disney
Italia: it is the third time in less than four months that I catch it plagiarizing Star
Trek with no acknowledgement of its debt whatsoever. |

ed il fante depurante" nel suo numero 2247. |
On December, 16th, 1998,
Walt Disney Italia's flagship weekly, Topolino,
published the story "Mickey Mouse and the Depurating Jack" in
its issue #2247. |

| Il romanzo
sostiene che il Guardiano, una volta giunto al pianeta degli Ocampa, scatenò
involontariamente una catastrofe ecologica, che rese il pianeta irrimediabilmente sterile. |
The novel states that the Caretaker,
once arrived to the Ocampa's planet, unwittingly triggered an ecological
catastrophe that made the planet irrecoverably barren. |
| Il narratore
dell'episodio non è onnisciente (1), ma, dacché
l'ufficiale scientifico della Voyager sostiene che il pianeta degli Ocampa
sarebbe un pianeta di Classe M se soltanto la sua aria non fosse così tersa
(niente polvere, niente precipitazioni), noi siamo autorizzati a credere che il Guardiano
abbia raschiato via tutta la polvere dal pianeta perché non ne aveva capito l'importanza. |
The episode narrator is not omniscient
(1), but, since the Voyager's science officier claims
that the Ocampa's planet would be a Class M planet if only its air were
not so terse (since lack of dust implies lack of precipitation), we are allowed to infer
that the Caretaker has scooped up all dust on the planet, as he could not realize its
importance. |

aggiungete l'uso di un (primitivo) ponte ologrammi e del teletrasporto, e siamo moralmente
sicuri che plagio c'è stato. |
The alien captain Mickey Mouse met was
doing the same to Earth satellites; add the use of a (primitive) holodeck and
teleportation, and we are morally sure that plagiarism has occurred. |

Guardiano" ci sono due trame principali, interpretate rispettivamente dai Maquis
guidati da Chakotay e dall'equipaggio federale comandato da Janeway. |
In "The Caretaker"
there are two main threads, respectively interpreted by the Maquis led by
Chakotay and the Federation crew headed by Janeway. |

suo narratore, cioè la saggezza di ognuno degli equipaggi - quel che accade lontano dalla
loro vista è ignoto anche a noi.. |
Each thread has its own narrator, i. e.
the collective wisdom of the ship crews - what happens out of their sight is unbeknown
even to us. |

quel che accade ad ambo le ciurme perché, quando si uniscono a bordo della USS
Voyager, essi condividono tutta (od almeno gran parte del-) la loro esperienza,
creando non solo un equipaggio unico, ma anche un narratore unico. |
We know the events occurring to both
crews because, once they join aboard the USS Voyager, they share all (or
at least most of) their experience, thus creating not only a joint crew, but a joint
narrator too. |
