Methods

Procedure

Participants were recruited via folder set up in the main lobby of the Psychology Department of the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. Subjects were offered research credits in exchange for their participation, used in some psychology classes as a means of extra credit. Participants who arrived for the study were administered an informed consent form (Appendix B). Participants then filled out the three questionnaires being used in this study (see Materials) in addition to a brief demographics questionnaire (Appendix A). Once completed, forms were collected separately and face down, and participants received a debriefing form (Appendix C) and their receipt for credit.

In addition, a letter was sent out to all ethnic clubs and organizations on campus, academic and non-academic, requesting volunteers for this study. No responses were obtained from this source.
