Amelia has grown up in the face of tragedy. At birth, she lost both her mother, Queen Kasha, and her twin sister, Karista. While this has affected her personality, she never lets it get in the way of her life. Not that her mother is ever forgotten-she loves hearing stories about her late mother and visits her grave frequently with flowers. Amelia, due to her outgoing personality, also has made very close bonds with other people. Jacob has become a grandfatherly figure to her, and Michael, despite their age difference, is her close friend and confidant, though as Amelia always (rather hotly) states, they are not in love. Amelia at times looks at Michael like an older brother. Of course, the closest person to Amelia is Prince Teran, who was drawn in to Amelia's warmth when he was suffering himself. She loves him much the way that Kasha loved Edward. However, Amelia feels nothing but cold hatred for only one person-The wizard, Doren Kahl. She has been very observant over his influence over her father, King Edward and knows deep inside that evil emanates from him. Due to Doren's influence on her father, Amelia does not have a very close relationship with him, out of fear that Doren would pry anything she said out of Edward. At birth, she apparently had a seal placed on her locking away her magic strength, though now that the seal is broken, Amelia still doesn't know just WHAT power she actually has.

Personality:

As the star of LoveQuest, Amelia, despite her tragedies, is a very strong person. In the face of the death of her mother, she still reaches out to people and tries to help others in pain through their problems. Even when she herself may be suffering, she tends to be a woman of action. She can't stand it when others are being hurt in some way and will immediatly pick up a sword and try to correct it. However, this also leads to problems, as she often doesn't stop to think through her actions. Amelia cares deeply for other people and tries to befriend those who seem lonely. She also looks to others to confide her feelings in to make up for her lack of strong family ties.

Comments:

Amelia is the least dynamic character in the entire series. Even in the earliest drafts of LoveQuest, she was practically the same. Even her outfit hasn’t changed. She was particularly inspired by Tenjou Utena of Shoujo Kakumei Utena, but I lumped in some Tsukino Usagi. I love writing about female characters who are very independent and strong while retaining some of their feminine qualities. Notice that Amelia never wears men’s clothes, like Utena does, because Amelia doesn’t entirely break the tradition of a princess. Like Utena, however, Amelia is never content to wait and allow injustice to be carried out.
