Blood Type: B

Hobbies: Potions, collecting magical objects and books

Dream: None-Jacob seems pretty content with his life!

Jacob is an odd old half-elf who spends much of his time experimenting in an abandoned basement area of the castle, generally alone, not so much that he doesn't like company but because others are afraid of entering his lab. Jacob has a nasty habit of failed experiments (usually resulting in explosions). He also has a habit of getting so technical in explanations of magical events that nobody can understand what he's talking about. An alchemist by trade due to his elven potion-making skills, Jacob spends much of his time studying the intricacies of magic (though his own powers were lost at a young age) and never seems to grow bored trying out something new. Jacob is a grandfatherly figure to Amelia, and they have been close for years. Jacob gives off the appearence of being extremely care-free, but he occasionally lets out a few indications of a life marred by some horrible tragedy. He's been around since before Amelia was born. In fact, the entire tale begins with an explosion in his lab...

Personality:

As mentioned above, Jacob gives an impression of being extremeley happy. He generally IS content, mostly because he's had several hundred years to carry himself through his earlier tragedy. Even in a dire situation, Jacob will remain level-headed, though his urge to experiment can distract him sometimes from greater issues.

Comments:

This guy is the most well-adjusted in the entire cast, even with the tragic loss in his youth. Jacob is a fun character to work with. Being several hundred years older than the rest of the cast, he's had more time to work through his problems, and I love how he reacts to the cast. He's a pretty funny old man. I had always planned for Jacob to be there, though his past as a half-elf came later. He is heavily inspired by Albus Dumbledore in the Harry Potter books. Dumbledore is my favorite character in the series, and bits of him have probably snuck into Jacob. His habit for being so technical comes from the fact that when I first started writing the explanations, I noticed that they WERE hard to understand (except for me^_^), so I figured I should write that in. He's a strong contender in the character polls.
