-First Inhabitants of Denton County-  The first people of the area now known as Denton County and resulting  contact with European immigrants.

-County Seats of Denton County-

        Pinckneyville-  The first county seat of Denton County.

        First Alton-   Second county seat of Denton County.

        Old Alton-   Third county seat of Denton County and the location of the first county courthouse.

        Denton-  City of Denton, the present county seat.

-Hickory Station-  Texas Ranger post on the western frontier.

-Icarian Settlement-  French socialist community, New Icaria.

-Quakertown- The first African-American community in Denton County.

-19th Century Potteries-

-Denton County Schools Archaeology Projects-

        Alfred A. Mouse-  Denton County's Archaeological History, a project of Tomas Rivera Elementary School, Denton, Texas.

    Many times the Denton County GPS Department has assisted with site maps and site locations.  We are very thankful for their time, energy, and equipment.  At left are Virgil Woods and Jennifer Reinisch recording the exact position of an archaeological feature using Global Positioning System equipment.
