MATTHEW LEE: THE WAITER AND OTHERS, MARK UNDERSTUDY Matty was the MASTER at the role of The Waiter. So energetic, and realistic. There wasn't a moment where Matty over-acted and the charisma that Matty showed onstage was outstanding. People were drawn to watch Matt...and he is the same off stage... you just want to spend so much time talking to that boy!
He may have been the youngest cast member, but he maintained professionalism at all times and proved to be a seasoned performer. Vocally wonderful, and an unbelievable actor, Matt was very believable at the role of Paul (Life Support Meeting Leader)... someone even questioned if he'd taken the time to visit an AA meeting to establish his role. I don't know what the answer to this is, but if he didn't...then it just shows what a good actor he is. Matt sadly left the cast halfway through the Melbourne Season to do the Tap Dogs Movie, and he was extremely sadly missed. It was fabulous to see Matt on stage again at closing...very touching, and as always he took time out to chat to his fans. We wish Matt all the luck in the world for the production of his two upcoming movies! I'm sure we'll all be rushing out to see them Matty! |

CECILIA LOW: ALEXI DARLING & OTHERS, MIMI UNDERSTUDY Cecilia is great! She is a very talented singer, and has a very "Jazz-style" husky voice *which my male friends insist is totally sexy*.
Cecilia is a terrific dancer as well, and her dance routine in Contact with Fred was well choreographed and fabulously performed. As Mimi, if you could get past Mimi having pink hair *which most people could!* then you would appreciate Cecilia's performance. Whilst her and Rodger lacked the chemistry that there was between Rodger and Christine, only an avid rent-head would notice. Cecilia's rendition of "Without You" is fantastic, and it is something I would look forward to every time I heard her sing! Cecilia's dance as Mimi in "Out Tonight" was amazing too...Cecilia totally nearly kicks herself in the face with her high leg kicks! Cecilia is a great performer and I'm glad I witnessed her as Mimi! |

PETER MURPHY: SWING, ROGER UNDERSTUDY, MARK UNDERSTUDY Well where can I start with Pete? I thought Pete was absolutely phenomenal! I saw him play Roger twice, and found him to be vocally amazing.
I have to admit, that if I hadn't seen Rodger Corser in the last month or so of the show *where he had improved out of site* I would have said that Peter Murphy should have been cast as Roger! I was absolutely astounded by Pete's terrific performance! It was clear that he has had experience on stage, yet he still had a fair amount of raw talent! As an actor, Pete was also amazing, and his final show *that he performed in* he played Roger, and had me in absolute stitches. I'd come especially to see him again as Roger... and he totally lived up to my expectations of him *which after the first time I saw him as Roger were VERY high*. Peter's rendition of "Glory" bought tears to my eyes! I never saw Pete play Mark, but I have been told that he was an excellent Mark as well! Off stage, Pete is as spectacular as he is onstage. Always staying around to chat with fans, and taking time to recognise a few of us! *thanks Pete!* He left the cast of RENT the same time MiG did as he also has a lead role in FAME. I can't wait to see you in it Pete, and we missed you terribly when you left! *ask Prinnie who was BOMBARDED with questions about Pete ALL the time!* Good Luck with Fame and we look forward to seeing you again in Melbourne 2000!!!!!!! |
