The Pennsylvania Company, like our parent Battalion, was formed to be a family oriented unit.  Not all members are Rangers, but all members must have a strong interest in Rogers' Rangers and contribute to the Company and Battalion.

We recognize the demands of modern life, and that it is at times difficult (if not impossible) to get everyone together at one time.  We DO ask that you have a sincere interest in Rogers' Rangers, and meet our authenticity standards.  While we also ask that you be as active as you can, attendance is not a major requirement for membership.

If you elect to join the Company, you must agree to comply with our rules and orders, as well as those of the Battalion.  These rules and standards are spelled out in the Battalion Information Manual, supplemented with Company Orders approved by the Battalion Commander.

All Company members will receive an annual Battalion newsletter from the Battalion Adjutant.  We do our primary coordination for events by phone and email at Company level.  In these documents and communications you will find appropriate event and unit information.  We also encourage our members to subscribe to The Battalion Journal, which is published quarterly.

Jaeger's Battalion is organized into companies, based on both the structure of Rogers' original corps and a member's geographic location.  If you live in Pennsylvania and elect to join Jaeger's Battalion, you will be assigned to us (this assumes direct communication by you to the Battalion).  If there is no company in your area, you will be assigned to the Battalion's "Composite Company", unless you coordinate membership through the Pennsylvania Company or specify that you wish to join us.  If you reside in a state where a company of the Battalion already exists (New York, Virginia, Ohio, Michigan, Kentucky, Mississippi, Oregon, Illinois, Kansas, or Minnesota) you will be assigned to that company.

The Pennsylvania Company is run by its own company officers, and while associated with Jaeger's Battalion, plans and conducts its schedule and regulates its internal affairs.  All procedures and other administrative details are explained fully in the Battalion Manual with company supplementation.

Once you enlist, you will remain on the Company and Battalion rolls until you resign in writing, although you may be placed on inactive status if you cannot participate for whatever reason or ask to become inactive.  Again, we do not have a minimum number of events that you must attend to maintain active membership.  Basically, we expect that you do as much as you can, and insist that whatever you do in the name of the Battalion and Company, you do well.

If you decide to pursue enlistment, you must fill out an enlistment application (which is available on this website).  You then send this completed application to the Company Commander, along with the remaining fee of $40.00 per Ranger or $50.00 for Family Membership.  The Pennsylvania Company's Annual Dues are (yearly after your inital fees) $25.00 per Ranger and $30.00 per family. These funds provide us the base for insurance coverage, unit equipment purchases and the occasional event fees.

New enlistees are classified as Ranger Recruits.  After a period of time, and after meeting certain requirements, you may petition the Company Commander for promotion to the rank of Private Ranger.  Selections of the higher ranks are made by Company Officers and the Battalion Staff, and based on merit and levels of participation.  All of these details are spelled out in the manual.

Uniform and equipment requirements are designed to allow you to get started on a reasonable budget while still being authentic.  The Company provides a list of sutlers and our Rangers can assist you in obtaining patterns for uniforms and equipment.

The Battalion offers a voluntary program for highly motivated individuals called the "Senior Ranger Program".  This involves a long term, extremely demanding set of requirements, designed to thoroughly test your Ranger skills and historical knowledge.   Additionally, the Pennsylvania Company has augmented the Battalion's program with its own "Master Ranger of the Advance" which builds further on Ranger, combat and survival skills.

Finally - we will not actively pursue anyone for membership.  We also do not recruit from the ranks of other reenactment units.  This does not mean that you cannot join us if you already belong to another unit, it just means that you must take the initiative on your own to enlist.

The Pennsylvania Company thanks you for your interest in Rogers' Rangers. For additional information, please contact the Company Commander at the email link below.
