Mortal Background/History: Born in 1481, he lived in Kiev in Russia - a city under Mongol.
Living with his mother, father, brother and a younger sister named Anya.
When he was 4, he started to hunt with his father. His father, Ivan, the indomitable hunter, beat him senseless for Andrei would talk back at him in defense for himself. Ivan cared nothing for his son, only that he was to paint when he ordered him to. Andrei had a gift - he could paint Christ and Virgin Mary. Andrei enjoyed spending time with the priests when his father sent him to the Monastery. He despised his father but loved him at the same time. The priests believed the gift was from God, and it was God who painted those Ikons. Ivan ignored them and only wanted his son to paint. Ivan had made a deal with Prince Michael, three Ikons were to be painted. One would be picked up by the Prince and the other two delivered to the castle of his cousin, Prince Feodor. Andrei knew as well as his father that Prince Feodor's castle was destroyed after a massacre by the wild tribes. Ivan did not care for that, only for the money. When the Prince came, Andrei was to deliver the Ikon to Prince Feodor's castle. The Ikon had fallen as Andrei headed towards the glass city. With his Father screaming at him he rode on. Suddenly the enemy, Tartar Raiders, captured and sailed him to Constantinople, selling him into slavery. He was then sailed to Renaissance Venice, Italy. Locked up in an old cell he was beaten and refused to eat or drink. After days of suffering, Marius found him and renamed him Amadeo. There, Amadeo became the catamite and pupil of the rich, reclusive artist. He later meets a young woman, Bianca and befriends her. Later, in a duel with an English lord, Amadeo receives a fatal wound, from which only Marius's dark gift could save him And did.
Immortal Background/History: Amadeo lived with Marius in Venice till 1499, but was never told the secret of Those Who Must Be Kept.
Amadeo was abducted by Santinos coven, and the last sight of his Master (Marius) was one that would haunt him throughout his years of misery. Santino, the leader of the coven, took him into his care with the help of Allesandra, his companion. Being suited to the surroundings of the coven, it was decided that he would replace the Coven leader in Paris. From the various choices given to Amadeo, Allesandra chose the name Armand. Being the leader of a coven, Armand changed rapidly and the botticelli angel Amadeo, was no more.
Armand became an independent leader of the Paris coven. They loved him for without him they were nothing. Believing vampires served 'Satan' they performed rituals and thought themselves damned. That was until they stumbled upon the blonde-haired vagabond Lestat. Knowing nothing of Old Covens, Old Ways and the serving of 'Satan' Lestat destroyed all beliefs and rules in the Paris Coven. With very few followers left from the coven, Lestat bequeathed Armand to the boulevard theatre in which he had once performed. Forming the Theatre des Vampires, Armand and his coven performed on stage pretending to be mortals acting as vampires. Bothering to love no one but be a good leader he stayed in the Theatre des Vampires for eight decades. It was well into the 1870s, when Lestat's child, Louis, came wandering with questions his maker could not answer with his paramour, Claudia. Claudia was soon slain by Armand's Coven of mad demon actors and actresses for attempting to murder her own creator. Louis burnt down the Theatre in a rage for the killing of Claudia. There were no survivors, only Armand escaped to join Louis - for he fell hopelessly in love with him. Time eventually destroyed their love of one another and Armand was alone once more.
After the publication of 'Interview with the Vampire' the boy who interviewed Louis, Daniel Malloy, was made into a vampire by Armand due to loneliness, desperation and love. The Night Island was soon created by Armand with all the facilities of Las Vegas on an island. The Vampires from the "Coven of the Articulate" were accommodated in Armand's four-story villa for a time (a private club: name Il Villagio).
Now in the modern world; Daniel and Armand cannot endure one anothers company and can only live on in some form of contentment, knowing that the other still lives.
With the returning of Lestat from 'Hell' with Veronica's veil, Armand pout his life in God's hands - he exposed himself to the burning rays of the sun. Fate took his life another way. He was severely burnt and was unable to move. With the powerful blood in him from Marius it was impossible for him to burn in the flames of the sun. As he lay there he discovered the lives of Beni and Sybelle. The little Arab boy and the woman with the musical gift for the piano (known for playing the 'Apassionata'). There, the two mortals took care of Armand while he was in his state. Throughout time the two fell in love with the angel. They cared not that he was a vampire and had to take human life to live, so Armand took them with him on his return to the Coven of the Articulate.
At the time, Lestat lay in an Endymion-like sleep in the cathedral. Armand couldn't resist feeding on the blood of Lestat and, while in his sleep, Armand tasted the blood of Christ reincarnate in his veins.
(TVA) Armands life story was recounted by David Talbot, a fledging of Lestat's. On that same night, Marius knowing how much Sybelle and Benji adored Armand, converted the two mortals into vampires. This was a big shock for Armand and has not exactly accepted it. The melody of the 'Apassionata' roused Lestat out of his sleep. That is all that is known so far.
Reason for the DarkGift: Armand was turned into a vampire, for Marius was suffering from Pandoras absence and his own refusal to make Bianca into a vampire. So, Marius made Armand out of loneliness, frustration, but also out of pure love. Armand was made into a vampire earlier than expected because he was at near death from a poisoned sword, but would haven been a vampire nonetheless sooner or later.
Novels: Interview with the Vampire, The Vampire Lestat and Queen of the Damned. Made a short appearance in Memnoch the Devil and was obviously in The Vampire Armand'. Featured in Blood and Gold.
