Appearance:  

Before body swap: David was a quite a tall man, with an expressive, deeply lined face and iron grey hair. He had clear black eyes, and was neither slender nor heavy. A lover of tweed coats and the such.

After body swap: David has lovely dark, Anglo-Hindi golden skin. He has soft, black hair trimmed below the ears and is well built.

Mortal Background/History:

David Talbot is a cultured British gentleman, born in England 1917, and traveled around the world when a young man. He stalked the jungles, hunting, and learnt how to use his power in Rio de Janeiro by the teachings of a Candomble Priestess. David devoted himself to learning how to manipulate spirits and revealing secrets that mainly involved that of supernatural beings.

Returning to England, he knew he had to put his powers to positive use, and joined the Talamasca, soon working his way up to Superior General. During this time, David believes he sees the God and the Devil conversing in a Parisian Café, which gives him hope about discovering an important truth. David has a deep appreciation for history and is a scholar at heart, befriending Jesse

(QotD) David meets Lestat in 1984, with Lestat characteristically showing up out of the blue at Talamasca headquarters in London, and offering 70-ish year old David the Dark Gift. David refuses. Lestat continues to tempt David with the Dark Gift, but is always rejected. A friendship is developed between the two, and David regains youth when he helps Lestat get back his vampire body that Raglan James had stolen. There is a struggle, which resulted in David being knocked out his body and anchored into the young 26 year old body that Lestat had inhabited as a mortal.

(TotBT) Davids original 74 year old body is destroyed later on by Lestat (an accident) and he has no choice but to remain in the younger body, which he finds is well suited to him. Later on, David gain immortality when Lestat forces the Dark Gift upon him.

 

Immortal Background/History:

(TotBT) Once given the Dark Gift, David learns to hunt and discover his powers on his own. He goes to New Orleans and takes up residence with Louis and Lestats Rue Royale flat, and then travels to Rio de Janeiro.

(MtD) David remains in company with Armand, Jesse and Maharet for a time, when Lestat becomes frightened that the Devil is after him, and calls on David for assistance. David comes and listens to Lestats fears, then helps to transfer Rogers artifacts to the Olympic Tower and watch over Dora for him. David is the one who pens down Lestats account of things when the Brat Prince traveled to Heaven and Hell.

(Pan, TVA) He has also penned down the life story of Armand and requested that Pandora write about hers.

(Mrrck) David was once the lover of Merrick Mayfair, and comes to her for assistance in helping Louis surpass his pain for the loss of Claudia. His love is revived once again for Merrick when he meets up with her. When Louis makes Merrick into a vampire and then commits suicide, David is quite distraught and helps to revive him with his own blood.

David lives with Lestat, Louis and Merrick but the quartet moved from New Orleans when they were threatened by the Talamasca.

 

Why:

Main reason Lestat made David Talbot into a vampire was because the Talamascan General was one of the greatest friends he had and didnt want to watch him grow old and die. Also, Lestat wanted to see what would happen.
