action stemmed from the discovery of Frank's affair with Jillian. |

The setting for Ryan's Hope is
the urban, contemporary upper west side of New York. The action centers on three major
families, the Ryan's, the Coleridges, and the Beaulacs, people of diverse backgrounds |

Mary and Jack are in love, but Jack's in no
rush to get married. He's too busy trying to dig up information that would be damaging to
Frank's career. Jack is Jillian Coleridge's former lover. |

A lot of the action on the show takes place
in Ryan's Bar & Grill, which is run by Johnny and Maeve Ryan. Much to their dismay,
Mary likes to hang out there with report Jack Fenelli, played by Michael Levin. |

Dr. Ed Coleridge is in love with Nel
Beaulac, whose marriage to Dr. Seneca Beaulac is in trouble. Diana Van Der Vlis plays Nel
and John Gabriel in Seneca. Nel was recently operating on for a brain aneurism. |

The Ryan clan is extremely close. In addition to
Johnny, Maeve, Mary, Frank and Delia, there's Pat Ryan, Frank's younger brother, played by
Malcolm Groome. Pat is an intern. |
