It was a warm day for spring. The kind
of day you hoped for when your parents dragged you off to the middle of Rassilon-knows-where and shout at you a lot. Holidays
were nothing new to the Doctor. Several of her past incarnations had been content to visit almost every planet where rest
and relaxation had been available. Of course this usually led to an embarrassing number of alien invasions or natural disasters.
All that had led to this. "A court summons?" The Doctor could barely believe the piece of paper. The clerk had tracked
the Doctor for many months. Following rumours, the aftermath of great battles, and questioning the survivors. Now he had finally
caught up with the mysterious Doctor and handed over the legal papers. "Yes ma'am." "Don't call me ma'am." "Sorry ma'am,
I mean Doctor." "Why would the Universal Holiday Commission what to sue me? If it wasn't for me they would have gone bankrupt millennia ago." "That's
not for me to say, I'm just the messenger." "Oh but another trial, it's so passé. Surely I can't be tried for the same
crime more than once per century?" The clerk read the document again. "Apparently they have special dispensation from the
supreme guardian of Earth, one Mavic Chen." "Old ‘Magic’ Mavic Chen eh? He's a wily one. He's going to sell
Earth out to the Daleks you know. Ooops not supposed to tell you the future, am I? Never mind what I just said but I cannot
be put on trial at this time." "Why not Doctor?" She sat down on a large chunk of red stone. "Things to do, I'm waiting
for a couple of Sontaran Battle Spheres to crashland. The Sontarans think that wiping out the local population will be a great
idea." "But that's monstrous, shouldn't we do something about it?" "Hmmm, let me see ... yes." "No need for sarcasm
Doctor." "I'm sorry but I'm currently under arrest. Please ask for help once I'm released from jail." "Okay, okay. I'll
say I couldn't find you." "Now there's a thought. Yes burning is better. No trace. Thank you." She watched the nervous
clerk destroy the legal documents. "There, are you satisfied?" He let the ashes float to the ground. A few edges still
glowed orange in the slight breeze. "Yes, now come along. My TARDIS is this way." The Doctor set off towards her ship. "But
what about the local population?" The clerk was confused. "Well if we hurry we will have more than enough time." "We?
There's only the two of us on this planet?" "Of course. I was waiting a month for you to turn up you know. But you finally
got here in the end. I should apologise in advance for Claire and David, they can be quite enthusiastic in creating chaos,
havoc and mayhem. You'll like them though, well one of them, possibly. Such a shame when you think about it, this is such
a beautiful world. I will miss it. Tell me, how do you take your tea?"
Twin spheres streaked through the blue sky.
The spherical ships glowed fiery white briefly before they landed gently on the surface. Field Marshall Narg was the first
to emerge. Dutifully he unfurled the Sontaran battle standard and proudly planted it into the soft loamy soil. This planet
would make a good supply depot he determined, once the unwieldy foliage had been removed of course.
