Nurse Dih-Sar looked critically at the man for a few seconds.
It really was him, the guy who used to play Professor X when she was just a kid. He had even brought his old assistant Ramona
with him; she hardly looked a day older. "THIS WAY PLEASE. SIR, MADAM, HENRY AND ALL HIS FRIENDS ARE WAITING FOR YOU."
"I've always felt
at home in hospitals, reminds me that there's still so much for me to do."
Nurse Dih-Sar smiled
inwardly, he was still witty and gorgeous. "THEY'RE ALL LOOKING FORWARD TO YOUR VISIT, EVEN THE STAFF WERE FIGHTING FOR THIS
SHIFT. I HAD TO EXTERMINATE THREE OF THEM MYSELF."
"Oh well, I suppose
I'm flattered. They all forget, or at least that was what I used to think."
"Me too. Marriage,
divorce, abandonment, imprisoned by Zeglons, remarried, discovered he's a giant caterpillar. The usual really."
"THEY'RE IN HERE
'PROFESSOR X'. SO EAGER TO SEE YOU."
"Ah hello, I'm the
Professor and this is my best friend Ramona. Say hello Ramona." The Doctor hoped this bluff would work.
"Hello." Romana
added Ramona's trademark wave.
The children cheered
and trundled around on their bases, their lights illuminating as they chanted "Professor X and Ramona".
The Doctor smiled
his broad toothy grin; it wasn't everyday you got to entertain such well-behaved Dalek children.
“Who wants
to play pin the nose on the Thal?” Romana asked the excited little children.
“Me, me, me!” Henry and the other Dalek children all shouted at once, then they exterminated
each other.
“Oh my.” The Doctor sighed. “That’s
unfortunate.”
“YES, USUALLY
ONE OF THEM SURVIVES, TO GROW UP TO BECOME AN ADULT DALEK.” Nurse Dih-Sar
remembered lovingly exterminating her sisters and brothers when she was just a child, it’d been the best day of her
life.
