The Eastern Shore Manlove lineage has been traced allegedly to Rowland
Manlove, circa 1590, in either Shropshire or Staffordshire, England. His grandson Mark
Manlove immigrated to Plymouth in 1637. Mark, it seems, was a wanderer. He couldn't sit
still. From Plymouth he migrated to Connecticut, then to Northampton, Virginia. Later he
moved to Somerset County, Maryland and eventually ??? Kent County, Delaware.
Although there is a serious question as to whether or not Mark descended from Rowland, he was the progenitor of Maryland's Eastern Shore and Delaware Manloves. One of his descendants, David Manlove, moved to Cape May in the early 1800s and is the raison d'etré for this page.
