MSM-04 Acguy

Synopsis: This guy is an interesting Mobile suit with an unusual fan following. The Acguy is a relatively ugly looking design but like many Zeon Mobile suits after a while it grows on you.

I have looked forward for this figure since the moment it raised from the water and beheaded a Ground Gundam in one punch in 08th MS Team. I suppose a lot of people became fans of the Acguy in that moment, replacing the mental image of the ackward looking Mobile Suit from the original Mobile Suit Gundam series.

The Figure: In the tradition of the Gogg MSiA, the Acguy proves to look as ugly as its animated counterpart yet field surprising articulation.

The head of this figure is well detailed and beautifully sculpted. The four vulcans in the look very nice compared to some gundams whose small heads make such detailing difficult. It can rotate a full 180 degrees but has limited elevating capacity due to its design.

The arms are well sculpted and well painted. Movement is good except at the elbow joints where its hindered by the armor of the forearm and upper arm. I will speak of the claw and arm extensions in the accessories section.

The legs are surprisingly unhindered in movement at the hip and the Acquy can keep a good deal of balance in certain difficult poses other figures never do. Bending at the knee is a little hindered but nowhere near the Gogg's problem. Ankle movement is pretty good as well.

The torso is one section so it can not twist at the hip, however paint and detailing on this figure is very good. The backpack features 2 nozzles with good ranges of motion.

The Accessories: This Figure is a lightweight in this category however they are useful.

Arm Extensions: This figure comes with 2 arm extensions that are flexible like those of the Gogg. They can be combined to make one arm very long yet flexible.

Claws-out hand: Before the Acguy was released questions on how the feature of the Acguy's retractable claws on the right arm would be dealt with. Some feared the Z'gok's open claw/closed claw feature would used as the solution. Bandai decided to feature a "hand" with the claws retracted and a "hand" with the claws out. As a wonderful gimmick featured in the claws-out hand each claw is independently movable so the claws can do a lot.

Play Value: Although an Accessory lightweight, the Acguy is well articulated and still has some fun gimmicks to work with.

Display Value: This figure with/or without the arm extensions can still attract attention with its rather odd looks or you can place a display showing GM head's origin with a one armed Acguy decapitating a Ground Gundam.

Dollar Value: A must for Acguy and Zeon Marine fans. It is a must as well for collection completists. As a standard unit I would say it is worth it (even though I am a bit bias on this little guy!).

Conclusion: A Great figure that looks like the best reproduction of a gundam figure although there are some small flaws.
