MSN-02 Zeong Battle Scarred Review

Synopsis: With the Release of the Battle scarred RX-78-2 in the Battle scarred line it was only a matter of time before the Zeong would be released to reenact the epic last battle of these two suits.

Zeong has a unorthodox design to put it nicely and of the Zeon Suits I find this suit to be one of the oddest and remembering my first glance at it, one of the most ridiculus.

The Figure: The figure is the same as the earlier Zeong Release except for the cosmetic changes warranted to the figure. The dirty wash used on the figure help serve for etched in panel lines bringing out a better look to the figure.

The Head is well detailed with damage on the right side severing off the antler on that side. The head can rotate 360 degrees and can come off at the neck but do not worry, that is part of the design of this figure as was seen in the final episodes of Mobile Suit Gundam.

Although not a Version 2 figure, the Arms are loaded with articulation then again with the absence of legs this figure would need this range of motion. The arms rotate with no hindrance by the shoulder armor. The elbow bends 90 degrees like most average figures and the Forearms are removable like the design permits. The additional hands included with this figure consist of 2 closed fists, 2 open hands and 2 hands with 4 posable fingers providing a lot of fun in terms of articulation and expression.

The Legs.nevermind.

The Torso is well painted and well detailed and is also the most damaged. Damaged areas consist of a hole in the chest from Gundam's Beam Rifle, a scratched up front left thruster, and a chunk of the left skirt armor removed.

The Torso can not torso twist like most figures however the upper torso can tilt up and down. The bottom of the torso features 5 smaller thrusters and 2 large thrusters where the legs would normally be. These main thrusters have the best range of motion among the Zeong's thrusters.

The Accessories:

Cables: one straight and one more lax cable are included to aid in the deployment of the forearms when separating from the rest of the body. Both attachments are nearly equal in length and can be connected to each other for a longer yet unstable result.

Battle Damage limb: A severed upper arm attachment was included and can be used on either arm.

Additional Hands: See Figure Description.

Play Value: This figure has some nice qualities however with all the gimmicks loaded on this figure this figure can sometimes seem like a chunk of plastic compared to other mobile suits however a big antagonist among your grunts to fight your protagonist.

Display Value: This design is very odd and ugly to many. This figure may not be the best to display without the gundam to fight the figure. This is a figure for Zeon fans or Zeong Fans in particular.

Dollar Value: Given the size of the figure the deluxe price is understandable however given the Zeong's design, this is a figure for a Zeon/Zeong fan and a collection completeist.

Conclusion: It is not a figure for anyone but a fan. The figure is well made but the main thing going against the Zeong is the fact that it is the Zeong.

SCORE:

8 out of 10 Zaku Heads: A solid Figure for Zeon and Zeong Figures.
