MA-04X Zakrello & MS-14C Gelgoog Cannon(domestic Release)

Synopsis:  Zeon Designs always had an odd look to them.  Zakrello is one of the oddest designs I have seen made into an MSiA.  Bandai was smart to mart this Mobile Armor with the gelgoog cannon.  It caused people who were seeking a domestic Gelgoog Cannon to buy Zakrello at a price STILL lower then to have the Japanese sent stateside.

The Mobile Armor:  I never thought I would buy this mobile armor or that Bandai would ever make it.  Like Bygro (or Bigro) pairing the armor with an exclusive figure and pricing the package less then the Gallop or Gunperry made for a sound move.  Fans would buy them with the mobile armor to get the figure and still feel like they did not get swindled out of their money.

The arms are well articulated and the 12 thrusters on this thing are all moveable.  They tried hard not to make this thing a chunk of plastic.  The right dome on the top is the switch to activate the sound while a switch on the bottom of the fuselage determines whether or not you want the FX to be on in the first place.  The cannon in the mouth is a little redlight and the sound is from the show.  Although Mobile Suit Gundam had some weird sounds so it my not be a good thing.

The Figure:

The Head is different then any of the previous Gelgoog figures and actually lacks smallish look of other Gelgoog figures.  I guess it is because of the headcrest.  The head turns with 360 degrees of rotation with not much ability to tilt up or down.

The Color scheme is nice on the figure overall.  The arms are standard Version 1 joints with decent moderate interference from the shoulder armor.  Elbow movement is unhindered and the 3-tube missle launcher on the forearm does come off and can be interchanged with the forearm panels of the mass-produced Gelgoog.  Hands connect via a peg.  The Gelgoog has the following hands; 1 right-handed gun hand and left-handed "sword" hand.

The Dom-like legs feature version 1 joints with movement limitations around the hip skirt armor due to the rigid plastic.  Ankle movement does not seem hindered despite the large armor.  Like the Dom these areas of skirt armor feature the 3 thrusters under each.  The Green scheme really does not need panel lining to make the legs look good on this figure.  However the figure does have a little lining along the ankle "skirt" armor.  The Spade decal is present in consistency with Thomas Kurtz's custom for what the color scheme it represents.

The Torso is just like other gelgoog releases.  Waist rotation is 360 degrees with no problems.  Like all other gelgoogs this figure has slots for the shield peg and the 2 Beam hilt holder attachments. Like the high mobility Gelgoog only the slot on the rear waist is open for anything after the backpack is placed on.  The backpack features movable cannon and thrusters, and features a nice paintjob and good detailing.

The Accessories:  The Zakrello is the accessory to the Gelgoog Cannon or Vice versa depending on how you look at it.

Play Value:  Well the Zakrello is a good piece of fodder for your Heroes to combat.  The Gelgoog Cannon is a great support unit for whatever assault you want to run.  Since they have the weapons built on there is no interruption in play.

Display Value:  A good-looking mobile suit with a mobile armor that ah stands out.  The Gelgoog can augment any Zeon display you have set up while the Zakrello is for the completist or Zakrello fan.

Dollar Value:  This was a low priced vehicle release when it was first released.  Priced at around $20 the package is cheaper then it would be to import the Asian release from a Japan distributor.  Getting a figure and the um mobile armor makes it worth the price.

Conclusion:  A decent match-up despite the fact that the mobile armor is Zakrello Bandai did try to make the best of the Armor.  Gelgoog Cannon made the purchase worth it.
