Once we passed through the Straights of Scylla and Charybdis, my remaining men and I landed on the isle of the Sun God. This island was heavily populated with sacred cattle that the Sun God held very dear. I had been cautioned by both Circe and Teiresias (tie-Ree-see-us) to leave these cattle alone. In spite of all the warnings we had received, my men were hungry, especially my lieutenant, Eurylochus (you-RILL-oh-kus). Because of their lack of nutrition my men were very easily convinced by Eurylochus to kill and eat these animals.
Needless to say the Sun God was furious and prayed to Zeus (ZOOS) to punish my men for their wrongdoing. Zeus acted on the Sun God’s request by destroying our ship at sea and killing all of my men. With no ship and no men I found myself stranded on the Ogygia (o-GEE-e-uh) Island.
