SUCCESS!

In an apparent response to rapidly-dwindling support, sponsors of local law legislation aimed at increased smoking restrictions in public places throughout Chautauqua County withdrew a Local Law from consideration at a meeting of the Chautauqua County Legislature.

A resolution providing for a group composed of representatives of various groups, including restaurant and bar owners, to study smoking legislation and to report to the Legislature's Human Services Committee was approved, but provides no guarantees of any additional legislation to be brought to the Committee or full Legislature for consideration.

After months of public information, groups opposed to the uni-laterally created legislation were finally considered as having something important to say in regard to potential legislation that could drastic economic impacts upon their private businesses.
