The Flying Start Programme a 6 week course that will help your child with her reading and writing. It usually takes place on a Friday morning from 9.30am to 10.30am, starting at the end of September.

Many Primary 1 parents have already taken part in the course and have found it very worthwhile and most enjoyable.

The aims of the course are:

• To give children a “Flying Start”
• To focus on reading and writing, and how parents and carers can help their children at home
• To provide opportunities for parents and carers to discover and learn new skills and ways of working with their children
• To look at practical ways in which parents and carers can help
• To help children to develop a love of and interest in reading and writing
