1. Missed Lessons
There are no refunds for lessons missed by the student. Lessons missed by
the student will not be made up. If a student is ill and has given a minimum of 24-hours advance notice to their teacher,
their teacher may offer another lesson time for that week. Teachers are not required to make up lessons missed
by the student.
Many of the teachers in the conservatory and the STEP program have very busy
teaching schedules and have set aside a mutually agreed upon weekly lesson time for you when you contracted them by registering
for lessons in the fall. If you know in advance that you will be unavailable for a lesson, you should try to make arrangements
with another family that studies with the same teacher to switch lesson times for that week or forfeit that lesson. This policy
was put in place to ensure consistent lessons for all students and teachers.
2. Changing Instructors
I. Keep communication open. If after speaking with your instructor, no resolution
can be found for the reason for switching, ask your instructor for a recommendation of teacher.
II. Your instructor will contact the prospective new teacher and pass on your
contact information.
III. The new instructor will contact you to arrange a lesson time and register
your child for lessons.
IV. It is important to allow your child the opportunity to 'say goodbye' to
the original instructor.
V. If communication becomes impossible, contact the STEP dirctor.
VI. You must provide in writing 30-days notice of cancellation of lessons with
any instructor to the STEP and conservatory directors and your private teacher.
3. Home Teaching
While attending lessons at a teachers home, please ensure that if you drop your child off, you pick them up on time. If you
are more than 10-minutes late picking up your child, it will be counted as a lesson.
