The ancestral home of the Sun family
was in Le'an County, Shandong Province, China. During one of China's many
civil wars, the Suns' ancestors migrated south toward the city of Fuzhou
in Fujian Province. In the late 1940s, the family, then headed by Hsiang-Pei
and Min-Ko Sun, crossed the Taiwan Straits for Taipei, provincial capital
of Taiwan, for a better living. To pursue an even better education and
more opportunities for future generations, the Suns immigrated to the United
States in the 1970s and have since settled down in Seattle, Washington.
