BELOW ARE A FEW OF PC SWEEPS ADVENTURES AS REPORTED IN 'THE
SWEEP NEWS'
PC
SWEEP IN KIDNAP DRAMA !!
It
was on a sunny afternoon towards the end of May 99, when PC Sweep was kidnapped!
Sweep was innocently sat in the Police van awaiting the return of his
friend and partner, when persons unknown gained entry to the van and snatched
him. A
ransom note was left and shortly afterwards the first in a succession of
postcards and letters were delivered. The postcards, signed from Sweep, were sent from all over
the world, from places as far a field as Australia, the U.S.A. Ireland, and
Jersey. Presumably the kidnappers were keeping Sweep on the move to avoid
detection from the P.L.F. (The Puppet Liberation Front), who were attempting to
find Sweep by using their many contacts in the toy and puppet world.
Eventually
after many months, the P.L.F. secured the release of PC Sweep, who is
pictured here after his release, in an ambulance on his way to hospital. Despite his ordeal Sweep
was found to be unharmed and returned to duty shortly afterwards.
Sweep
in the Ambulance, but why is the Ambulance man laughing? It wasn't funny!
A fellow
Police Officer was arrested some months later (yes sadly it was an inside job!)
The officer who became known as Bad PC Gill, is pictured here being booked into
the custody suite at the Police Station, by the arresting officers of the P.L.F.
A trial date was set and the trial was held with publicity in the local
newspapers using real solicitors, a court clerk, court security etc. Money
raised from the 'mock' trial was given to the Women's Refuge. Bad PC Gill was
found guilty of 'Puppetnapp' and sentenced to three hours sat in the corner on the
naughty chair!
KEBAB
RABBIT IN DRINK SCANDAL
Here Sweep is seen arresting Kebab Rabbit for being 'Drunk
in charge of the Police van.' The
little rabbit had lived in the van since he first learned to hop but Sweep was
called in to investigate after a report that he was seen drinking 'Dizzy Water.' Having blown red on the Alcolmeter Sweep sadly arrested the little chap
but on taking him into custody they were met by an angry Custody Officer who is
reported to have shouted. " Get these bloody toys out of my office!"
These comments if true, clearly indicate that deep rooted prejudice still exists
in the Police. A spokes puppet stated that the 'Union of Toys and Puppets,' were
looking into the comments!
