It is also here where he can carry out his administrative duties with his office equipment when off duty and without the inference of the Bridge. In contrast the Skipper's Cabin is much smaller than their other officer's quarters in contrast to more advanced starships, and because of limited space is considered both a ready room type facility and the skipper's personal quarters.
