What can I get you?
Coffee's a dollar
I hope you like whip cream.
I just love the Voice of the Night. We have this special connection. |
Dialogue Snippets of conversations from selected episodes:
Jessica:
Does that still hurt?
Al:
No. Don't worry about it.
Jessica:
I was surprised when I heard what happened.
Al:
Yeah, well, it's just one cheap shot. No big deal. Did Seth happen to mention
why it happened?
Jessica:
You were going off on Natalie.
Al:
Yeah. What does that tell you?
Jessica:
That you need to keep your mouth shut.
Al:
No, not about me. About Cris.
Jessica:
No, seriously, Al. Natalie is going through a lot. The last thing she needs is
you dumping on her, too.
Al:
Oh, wait a minute here. I thought you hated her. What's going on between you two
lately anyway?
Jessica:
She's my twin sister.
Al:
Well, yeah, I heard. But still, I mean, why would Cris take a swing on me just
because I was going off on Natalie? Think about it. He's in love with her. He's
in love with her. You knew this. And you didn't tell me?
**********************************************
Marcie:
Jen, are you ok? You seem really upset.
Jen:
Right, I’m upset. Cristian should've been back by now.
Marcie:
Oh, ok. Ok, Jen, let's just say that Cristian does see Natalie tonight. Are you
really sure it could change things?
Jen:
It could change everything. If Natalie and Cristian see each other tonight,
there might not be a wedding tomorrow.
********************************************
Al:
I thought that we were good friends.
Jessica:
Oh, come on. We are. Stop with the guilt trip.
Al:
Yeah, but if I had known about Cristian a little sooner, I mean, Jen and I, we
--
Jessica:
It doesn't matter.
Al:
We might have had a chance.
Jessica:
Come on. Why? It doesn't matter how Cristian feels about Natalie. He's still
marrying Jen.
Al:
Yeah, but that's only because of the baby. I mean, he doesn't love her, ok? He
doesn't love her the way I do.
Jessica:
Al, I know you love Jen.
Al:
Yeah, I love her, and you know what? I think I know her better than anybody. You
see, there is a part of Jen that nobody else gets to see. Not even Cristian.
Jessica:
But you see it?
Al:
Definitely. And that secret part -- that's who Jen really is. That's who I’m
in love with.
Jessica:
I know. I know you love Jen, but that doesn't mean that you guys are going to be
together. Al, what you had, it was a long time ago.
Al:
Not that long.
Jessica:
What?
***************************************
Marcie:
Here you go. Herbal tea. No caffeine.
Jen:
I'm fine. No, really, I am.
Marcie:
You're just under a lot of stress.
Jen:
Mm-hmm. But I'm just -- I'm going to figure out the right things to say to
Cristian when he comes back, and everything's going to be fine.
Marcie:
What about Natalie?
Jen:
Could you never say her name again ever?
Marcie:
Sure. No problem.
Jen:
Look, Mrs. Davidson said she was going to send over her maid of honor dress, but
I really don't want to take any chances.
Marcie:
I don't blame you.
Jen:
So could you go get the dress for me?
Marcie:
Well, what if Natalie’s there with Cristian?
Jen:
You have a short memory.
Marcie:
Oops, sorry.
Jen:
I wasn't joking.
Marcie:
I'm sorry.
Jen:
Listen, Marcie, can I count on you or not? Because if I can't --
Marcie:
Jen, you know you can. I -- I’d never do anything to let you down. I was
writing in my diary just last night, and those were almost my exact words. I
mean, it's just so great to have you be my friend and to ask me to be your maid
of honor --
Jen:
I need your help, Marcie. I need to know that you're going to be there for me
when I need you.
Marcie:
I will be. You can always count on me. I haven't said a word about it being Al's
baby, and I --
Jen:
Keep your voice down!
Marcie:
Right. Sorry. I swear, Jen, I'll never tell anybody. I'll die before I tell
anybody.
Jen:
Good.
Marcie:
Great. Right. Well, I better go get that dress from Natalie -- oops. I'll go get
that dress. Yeah.
**********************************************
Jessica:
Al, you and Jen were over.
Al:
Yeah.
Jessica:
When your wedding fell apart, she went back to Cristian.
Al:
I know.
Jessica:
She was furious at you. She didn't want to speak to you.
Al:
Yeah, but we started getting past that. I mean, we started being friends again,
you know? I mean, I did save her life. Don't forget.
Jessica:
Well, yeah, but that doesn't mean it's not over. I mean, being friends and being
in love is a pretty different thing.
Al:
Well, yeah. I mean, I know that.
Jessica:
So what? Did something else happen between you and Jen?
Marcie:
Excuse me. Jessica? The maid let me in.
Jessica:
Oh. Hi. You were at Jen’s shower the other day, right?
Marcie:
Marcie Walsh.
Jessica:
Jessica. Nice to meet you. Sorry about that. That was a pretty strange day. Is
there something I can do for you?
Marcie:
I'm going to be Jen's new maid of honor, and I’d like to get that dress from
Natalie.
Jessica:
Oh, right. My mom was going to send it over tomorrow morning.
Marcie:
Well, I need it now.
Jessica:
Ok.
********************************************
Marcie:
What's your problem?
Al:
I know you. You work at that doctor's office. You were there the day that Jen
and everybody found out the due date.
Marcie:
Fine. I work for Dr. Conklin. Is that a crime?
Al:
I didn't know that you and Jen knew each other. Now you're her maid of honor? I
mean, how does something like that happen?
Marcie:
Jen and I know each other from school. You know, we've been in a lot of classes
together.
Al:
Yeah? When? Last year?
Marcie:
Uh-huh.
Al:
I was in almost every one of Jen’s classes. I don't recall seeing you.
Marcie:
Then maybe you should pay more attention. Jen and I hang out together all the
time. We're very close. She tells me everything.
Al:
Really? Like what? What does she tell you?
Jessica:
Ok. Here it is.
Marcie:
Great. Thanks. I hope I get the alterations done in time. Bye, now.
Jessica:
So long.
*********************************************
Jessica:
You ok?
Al:
Yeah. Yeah. I was just thinking, you know? It doesn't make any sense.
Jessica:
What doesn't?
Al:
Well, this Marcie girl -- she's going to be Jen’s maid of honor? I didn't even
know that they were friends.
Jessica:
Well, Jen really doesn't have a lot of friends, so maybe she asked her to be her
maid of honor because she thought --
Al:
She thought that it would be fun to have the girl from the OB-GYN's office as
her maid of honor?
Jessica:
How did you know she works there?
Al:
Because she mentioned something about it.
Jessica:
Oh. I don't know. Maybe that's where they became friends.
Al:
No. No, I don't think so. No, there's something going on here, ok, and I’m
going to find out exactly what it is.
**********************************************
November
6, 2002
Al:
She's just a friend, Dad.
Max:
Uh-huh. Hmm.
Al:
Really, she's just a friend.
Max:
Yeah, hey -- as long as she can help you face facts about Jen, it's good news.
Al:
Yeah, you know, I'm hoping Marcie can help me do exactly that -- face the facts.
**********************************************
[Knock
on door]
Jen:
Hi.
Marcie:
Hi, Jen. Oh, I'm almost done with the alterations.
Jen:
Good thing, because the wedding is definitely on for today.
Marcie:
Oh, that is so neat.
Jen:
Cristian couldn't wait to marry me.
Marcie:
Wow. Well, what made him change his mind?
******************************
Max:
So tell me about this Marcie.
Roxy:
I've been looking for you all over town, Maxie.
Max:
Oh, yeah.
Roxy:
So what's shaking le-- Al.
Al:
Not a whole lot. Boy, look at the time. I got to go.
Max:
You have fun. What are you two going to do?
Al:
I have a big surprise planned for Marcie.
*******************************
Jen:
Cristian just loves me so much, he practically begged me to move up the wedding
date.
Marcie:
That's so romantic.
Jen:
Right. So just be on time. Nothing's going to go wrong today, and don't tell
anybody about this until it's over with, got it?
Marcie:
Oh, I won't let you down. Our friendship means everything to me.
Jen:
Well, it means a lot to me, too.
Marcie:
It's so great of you to stop by. Can I make you some tea? You know, I have one
of those coil thingies.
Jen:
No, no, no, no. That's ok.
Marcie:
I can't offer you some cookies or anything?
Jen:
No. I just came to talk to you about my records.
Marcie:
The real ones or the fake ones?
Jen:
The real ones. The ones that say I'm in my first trimester instead of my second.
Marcie:
The ones that prove your baby is Al's.
Jen:
Shh.
Marcie:
Don't worry. We're alone. I put them in a very safe place.
Jen:
Ok, I think we should put them back in dr. Conklin's files.
Marcie:
Really? Well, why?
Jen:
If she notices the changes, it could be really bad, because she knew I wanted to
change my due date.
Marcie:
Oh, oh, yeah.
Jen:
So I think you should put them back so she won't get all weird.
Marcie:
Good point. Good point. But I'll keep the fake ones just in case Cristian ever
wants to see them again, ok?
Jen:
Ok, good thinking, good. Now everything's better.
Marcie:
This is perfect.
Jen:
Yeah, Dr. Conklin was the only thing I was still worried about, and she's no
problem, so --
Marcie:
It's perfect.
Jen:
Yeah. Nothing can stop me from marrying Cristian.
************************************************
Marcie:
Perfect.
[Knock
on door]
Marcie:
Hello? What do you want?
Al:
Can I come in?
Marcie:
What for?
Al:
Well, I wanted to talk to you about Jen. Please. I need your advice, ok? Look, I
want to do something, you know, special for her wedding.
Marcie:
What?
Al:
Well, I was thinking of making a C.D., You know, of her favorite songs -- they
could play at the reception, and i thought since you're her best friend --
Marcie:
Jen doesn't want anything from you.
Al:
I understand why you're acting like this, ok? I've been nothing but bad news for
a long time as far as Jen's concerned.
Marcie:
Definitely the worst.
Al:
And I know that a gift doesn't make up for it, but it's a start, you know? And I
figured since you and Jen are such good friends, you know, that I would ask you,
you know, what you thought.
Marcie:
That's right. She picked me to be her maid of honor.
Al:
Yeah. Congratulations. You know, I mean, look, I think it's great that you and
Jen are getting so close. You know, she needs a good friend, especially after
everything she's been through, and I just want to thank you for being there for
her.
Marcie:
Uh, you're welcome, but that's just what friends do.
Al:
Well, Jen's a really great person, you know, and I'm starting to think that
you're a really good person, too, and I just think it's great that you're her
friend. How did you guys become friends, anyway? I mean, I'm sure there's a
great story behind it.
Marcie:
Jen and I have a lot in common.
Al:
Like?
Marcie:
Oh, stuff.
Al:
Stuff? Well, that's great. You know, it's funny, you know, how you meet friends.
One of my best friends I met while I was working up in Canada. She was passing
through town with this band, this country band that she had, and we've been
friends ever since.
Marcie:
Oh. Well, you know, it wasn't exciting like that for me and Jen. She was just
sitting in the waiting room at Dr. Conklin's office.
Al:
Oh. Well, I thought you guys met at school.
Marcie:
We did, but we didn't become real good friends until we met up again at Dr.
Conklin's.
Al:
Oh, right, I understand. So -- what are some of those things you guys have in
common?
Marcie:
Oh, like I said, stuff -- girl things.
Al:
Yeah. Like what?
Marcie:
Like -- um -- uh -- you know, what is it to you? Why are you asking me all these
questions?
Al:
Whoa. Marcie, relax, ok? We're just two people having a friendly conversation
about somebody that we both like.
Marcie:
Jen doesn't like you. She doesn't want to have anything to do with you,
especially after the way you took advantage of her, when you slept --
Al:
After I what? Did Jen tell you that we slept together?
Marcie:
You're lying. You never slept with Jen. I can't believe you'd say something so
mean and ugly.
Al:
Well, then what did you mean when you said I took advantage of her?
Marcie:
Well, you took advantage of her when you were in that wheelchair. You know, I
don't have to explain anything to you. Just get out.
Al:
Marcie, your dress.
Marcie:
Well, what about the dress?
Al:
Oh, it was on the floor. I thought you should pick it up.
Marcie:
Get out!
Al:
I'm going.
*******************************************
[Phone
rings]
Jen:
Hello?
Marcie:
Hi, Jen? It's Marcie.
Jen:
Hi. All set for the wedding?
Marcie:
I hate to bother you. I know you must have a zillion things to do.
Jen:
Marcie, is this really important?
Marcie:
I'm sorry, um, but I just want this day to be so special for you and --
Jen:
And it will be. Now I need to get to the country club, so tell me what the
problem is.
Marcie:
Al Holden was here.
Jen:
Al was where? Where are you? Are you at the country club?
Marcie:
No, I'm still in my dorm room.
Jen:
Al went to your dorm room? What did he want?
Marcie:
Al came up with this whole big, ridiculous lie about wanting to find the perfect
wedding present for you. I mean, can you believe it?
Jen:
You didn't tell him anything, did you?
Marcie:
About you being pregnant with his baby?
Jen:
I told you not to bring that up.
Marcie:
Oh, don't worry, I didn't breathe a word of it to him or to anybody. I just got
rid of him as fast as I could.
Jen:
Good. Don't tell al anything, ok?
Marcie:
I won’t.
Jen:
I have to get over to the country club. I'll meet you there, ok?
***********************************************
Lindsay:
What about Al?
Jen:
Nothing.
Lindsay:
He still doesn't think that this baby is his, does he?
Jen:
No, he thinks it's Cristian’s. I made sure of that. And once Cristian and I
are married, he'll back off.
Lindsay:
I can't believe how wrong I was about him. All I saw was how much he loved you.
Jen:
No. All you saw was how much money his family had. And, most of all, he wasn't
Cristian.
Lindsay:
I was wrong about so many things.
Jen:
I told you I forgave you, didn't I? I don't want to think about mistakes, I just
want to get to my wedding. You're coming, aren't you?
Lindsay:
Yeah. Wait a minute. I just -- I've been saving this for you for your wedding
day.
Jen:
Mom, you're not going to do the "something old, something new" thing,
are you?
Lindsay:
Well, it's definitely something old. I want you to have it.
Jen:
Mom, this is your favorite.
Lindsay:
Yeah, your grandmother gave it to me right before she died. I was still a little
girl, and that's all I have left of her.
Jen:
I can't take this.
Lindsay:
Oh, please take it. Please take it for me, ok? After she died, I felt so alone I
didn't think that I was going to be able to bear it. I never did. But whenever I
felt bad, I would take this out and look at it and I -- I knew that no matter
what, my mom always loved me. And I want you to know that, too. No matter what,
all the mistakes I’ve ever made, you are the one thing that I did right. I
love you so much. All I've ever wanted was for you to be happy.
Jen:
I want that for both of us.
Marcie:
Now, where are my keys? Oh, come on. Ok, where did I put the spares? I can't be
late for Jen's wedding. Oh good. And my diary -- I'll put that back here. Ok,
good.
************************************************
Matthew:
Are you getting married?
Jen:
I sure am. And I am so glad you're here.
Matthew:
I hope it's as cool as the last time with all that yelling and stuff.
Sam:
Matthew --
Jen:
It's ok. It's going to be even better because nothing is going to stop me from
marrying Cristian.
Marcie:
Jen? Jen, I’m so sorry I'm late, but it's all because of, well, you know, what
we were talking about.
Jen:
Nope, you're right on time. Don't worry about it.
Marcie:
Everything looks so beautiful. The wedding's going to be perfect. Oh, no! I
can't believe it! I hope you can forgive me.
Jen:
Forgive you for what?
Marcie:
I'm so stupid. I've ruined your wedding.
Jen:
Well, what did you do?
Marcie:
I forgot your bouquet!
Jen:
Oh, that's all?
Marcie:
I left in the fridge at home. I'll go get it.
Jen:
No, we don't have time. We have to get changed. Mom, could you go to Marcie’s
and get my bouquet?
***********************************************
Al:
Oh, man. There's got to be some reason that your Jen's new best friend, you
little freak. Ah. Ah, Llanview hospital. Wow, she's hooked right into Jen's
doctor.
Hmm.
Oh -- password. Figures. Ok, let's see. "Marcie." M-a-r-c-I-E.
[Computer
beeps]
Al:
Ok, um -- um -- her birth date?
[Computer
beeps]
Al:
That's -- name -- man, I got to get into those files.
*********************************************
Jessica:
I thought Jen and Cristian’s wedding was supposed to be in a couple weeks.
Natalie:
Yeah, me, too. But I ran into Cristian this morning and he was on his way over
to the country club to marry Jen.
Jessica:
Are you ok?
Natalie:
I thought I was handling this. You know, but then when he told me he was
marrying her today, i --
Jessica:
It's awful. Come on, let's -- let's talk about it. Sit down.
Natalie:
I -- I can't. I'm -- I’m sorry. I just -- I got to get out of here.
Jessica:
Where are you going?
Natalie:
To the wedding.
*********************************************
Marcie:
Here's my address. I wrote down the directions.
Lindsay:
Well -- wait a minute. This is clear on the other side of town. I -- I won't
make it back before the wedding and neither will the bouquet, for that matter.
Carlotta:
I know -- we have a lot of flowers left from the arrangements. We can make a
beautiful bouquet right here.
Keri:
Yeah, we can start right now.
Jen:
Thank you.
Marcie:
Good thing I didn't forget this.
Jen:
What is it?
Marcie:
Something no bride can be married without. Come on.
*********************************************
Sam:
You got a minute?
Cristian:
Sure.
Sam:
I just want to have a word with you, Cristian -- you know, father-of-the-bride
stuff.
Cristian:
Yes, sir?
Sam:
I'm going to be straight with you -- I have my concerns about the two of you
jumping into this wedding so quickly.
Cristian:
Jen didn't want to wait.
Sam:
Yeah, I know. She made that very clear when she told me. But when jen makes up
her mind about something, she is hard to argue with.
Cristian:
Yes, sir.
Sam:
And the flip side of that is when she commits, she commits completely.
Cristian:
I believe that, sir.
Sam:
And that includes love. So when you marry my daughter today, you're going to be
getting not just a piece of her heart, but all of her heart. You take care of my
daughter and the baby she's carrying.
Cristian:
You have my word, sir.
**********************************************
Marcie:
According to my maid of honor manual, it's my responsibility to make sure that
you have all the official items on this checklist. First, something old. I wore
this to my high school prom. Well, actually, it was the alternative prom, but
that counts, right? Anyway, it would look perfect in your hair.
Lindsay:
Why -- uh -- why hide this under the veil? We'll put it in the bouquet. How
about that?
Marcie:
Yeah! You're right! Now for something borrowed, my favorite hankie. My
Great-Aunt Elvira embroidered it.
Lindsay:
Her Great-Aunt Elvira.
Marcie:
Oh, don't worry, it hasn't been used -- well, much.
Lindsay:
Another thing for the bouquet.
Marcie:
Ok. Blue was kind of hard, so -- but lucky for us, I'm into beading. I was up
all night making this.
Jen:
It -- it's beautiful. It is, but, you know, my mom gave me my grandmother's
necklace to wear.
Marcie:
Oh, but what are we going to do about something blue?
Lindsay:
Another thing for the bouquet. Huh?
Jen:
And my dress is new.
Marcie:
Yeah, but I --
Jen:
So we're all set. So let's go get ready.
Marcie:
Oh, ok.
Jen:
Thank you.
**********************************************
Sam:
Hey. Hey. Hey, hey, hey.
Lindsay:
It just seemed like yesterday we were holding her in our arms.
Sam:
Yeah, yeah. I know. Now she's getting married.
Lindsay:
At least I’m here for it this time.
Sam:
Yeah, I noticed that you lent Jen your mother's necklace.
Lindsay:
I gave it to her.
Sam:
Oh, Lindsay, that's -- I know how much that means to you.
Lindsay:
Well, it's the least I can do after all the mistakes I’ve made with her, most
of which she's still paying for.
Sam:
Yeah. What do you mean? Is there something about this wedding I don't know?
**********************************
Al:
What about "Jen"? Maybe it's "Jen."
[Computer
beeps]
Al:
Damn it! Man, i have got to find out what's going on with Jen and this Marcie
freak, man.
Whew.
Al:
Ha-ha! Her diary. Now we're getting someplace.
*********************************************
Jessica:
Natalie, you can't crash Cristian and Jen's wedding.
Natalie:
I can't just stay here while it's going on.
Jessica:
Ok, so let's go somewhere. Let's go shopping. Or let's go see a movie. I'll call
for the times. How does that sound?
Natalie:
Jessica, you're not getting it. I need to go to this wedding, ok? I need to see
it to know that it's real. You know, so i can -- I can try and let it go.
Jessica:
Is that really what you want to do -- let it go? Or are you going to try and
stop the wedding?
**********************************************
Sam:
Well, because -- because I think you're a better mother than you think you are.
Lindsay:
I am?
Sam:
Yeah. Well, all you have to do is look at our daughter and see what an
incredible woman she's grown into. Oh. Marcie needs us for something.
Lindsay:
Yeah, what do you need, Marcie?
Marcie:
Take a look for yourself.
Lindsay:
Oh. Oh. Oh, you're beautiful.
Sam:
"Breathtaking" is more like it. I have to get the camera. I'll be
right back.
Jen:
No, there's plenty of time for that later. I just -- I want to tell you two how
much I love you.
Sam:
And we love you, too, sweetheart.
Lindsay:
You know we do.
Sam:
I still can't believe it. It's my little girl.
Lindsay:
Mine, too.
Sam:
My little girl in pigtails I used to carry everywhere. And now, I’m walking
you down the aisle. I couldn't be more proud than I am right now. What's the
matter, darling?
Lindsay:
Are you all right?
Andrew:
Ok, looks like everybody's here.
Sam:
Hey, Andrew, thank you for coming on such short notice.
Andrew:
It's an honor to be here. And I just -- I wanted to say I’m just very happy to
be marrying such a beautiful young lady to such a special and wonderful young
man.
Matthew:
Sit down, everybody! It's starting!
[Laughter]
Sam:
Thank you,
*******************************************
Al:
"Tuesday -- had breakfast, stopped by the student union, went to classes.
Wednesday -- stopped by student union, had breakfast, then went to classes.
Worked for dr. Conklin in the afternoon. Thursday -- skipped breakfast, went to
classes, stopped by the student union, and worked for dr. Conklin." Man,
this chick has no life. Ok, now let's get to the part where you meet Jen and
suddenly become her new best friend. Where is it? Ah. "Monday -- made a new
friend today. Jen Rappaport. Only the coolest girl in Llanview U." What a
dork. "She really likes me. Tells me everything, like when she came in for
her appointment with dr. Conklin, and there was this big, huge blowup with her
boyfriend and some creepy guy she used to date named al"? That little freak
thinks I’m a creep? Whew. "Later, she told me something I had to promise
not to repeat to any living soul." What? What? What did she tell you?
Al:
Here we go. "I changed Jen's due date in her medical records so Cristian
wouldn't ask any more questions. And now that guy al won't, either."
[Wedding
music plays]
Al:
"I'm the only one besides Jen who knows the truth -- that Al is really the
father of her baby"? I'm the father. Jen's baby is mine.
[Wedding
music plays]
Andrew:
Dearly beloved, we are gathered here today to witness and to bless the joining
together of this man and this woman in holy matrimony ************************************
