MARCAL SCENES PAGE 8
Scene 12 A CD & A Movie May 13 Setup: Gabs, Max, Al and Marcie are sitting at a table at The Palace. Marcie is sitting next to Gabs and across from Max and Al. It’s Mothers Day and they are obviously there to celebrate together. Al hands Gabs a wrapped gift. Gabrielle: Thank you. Al: No problem. She opens the package. Al: I made you a mix C.D., mom. It's a collection of all the songs I thought you might like. Gabrielle: Wow thank you. These are very special songs to Bo and me. Wow. All this attention. From two such handsome men, too. Al: I thought Bo was supposed to make it three. Where is he? Gabrielle: Uh -- working. Max: Well, then it looks like we have you all to ourselves. Marcie: Thanks for letting me come along. I don't really get to do this. Gabrielle: Does your mom live in town or out of town? Marcie looks down at her hands. Al: Marcie's mom died when she was little. Gabrielle: Oh, Marcie, I'm very sorry. Marcie: Thank you. Thank you. It's -- it's ok. Al reaches across the table and holds Marcie’s hand. Al: You know, we can celebrate your mom, too. Gabs and Max exchange glances.
Later, Max and Gabs are up and about to leave The Palace. Max: You two take care. Al: All right. Marcie: Bye. Al: Later, guys. Bye, mom. Gabs and Max leave. Al leans over toward Marcie. Al: So, you want to go to the movies? Marcie: You just told your mom -- Al: Yeah, I didn't want to go with them. So, what do you say? A date? Marcie: Sure. Cool. Al: All right. Cool. They get up and walk toward the door. Al puts his hand on Marcie’s shoulder. They pass Joey as they are walking out. They all exchange greetings but Al and Marcie obviously have plans and don’t extend the conversation. Joey watches them leave. Okay, I am stilled bummed that we didn't get to see what happened on the "date." Short sweet scene though--the hand holding, the sensitivity to Marcie's feelings about her mother, Al getting rid of the parents so he could be alone with his girl. Sigh.
