 Not MY Brother!
OLTL: 11/19/03, 11/24/03, 11/25/03, & 11/26/03

Monday, November 19, 2003

Marcie, Ron, Natalie and Roxy are at Rodi’s.  Joey walks in.

Joey: Hey, Natalie. You mind if I leave some of these here?

Natalie: Why, sure.

Joey: Have you seen Jen?

Natalie: Ask Rex.

Joey: What's that supposed to mean?

Roxy: She said go ask Rex.

Joey: What do you mean by that?

Natalie: Joe, every time I have seen your wife, she's been hanging around her ex-husband.

Joey: Natalie, you are way out of line.

Marcie: Yeah.

Joey: Whatever you think you may have seen, you're wrong.

Marcie: Jen would never cheat on Joe. She loves him. Besides, she doesn't even like Rex.

Natalie: Yeah, well, Rex sure likes Jen. And she's sucking up the attention like a vacuum hose.

Joey: What the hell kind of comment is that?

Roxy: Hey, Natalie, you know, once the balls get rolling, someone's going to get hit upside the head.

Natalie: Yeah, well, my brother has every right to know what's going on in his marriage, ok?

Joey: Yeah, I do. And the person I should be talking about this with is my wife.

Marcie: Jen didn't do anything, ok? If there's a problem here, it's Rex. He never wanted them to be happy.

Natalie: Yeah, that's because Rex is in love with Jen -- God only knows why. But instead of acting like a decent human being and cutting him off, she's just stringing him along. How nice.

Roxy: You know, unless someone starts drawing blood, I'm going to skip this one.

Ron: Yeah, I'm with you there, for sure.

Roxy and Ron leave.

Roxy: Hmm.

Ron: So, tell me, how's that leg doing?

Roxy laughs.

Ron: Come on. Let's see it. Whoa! Oh, that's pretty good. That's pretty good.

Roxy: After that shihtzuing, no pain, man.

Ron: So the shiatsu -- so it helped, right? That's good.

Roxy: Yeah. Where'd you learn how -- where'd you learn how to do that?

Ron: A massage therapist I knew showed me a few moves.

Roxy: You know, I got a full-body thing. You know, 12 hours on my feet at Foxy Roxy's, I'm a little creaky.

Ron: Yeah, yeah, success is killing you, huh?

Roxy: Yeah. But what a way to die, man.

Ron: Yeah, tell me about it. I've been busting my butt here doing all this construction, driving back and forth to Jersey a couple times week, just checking on my business. It's tough.

Roxy: Yeah, I know. Work is hell. We should be dancing all day long.

Ron: Yeah. I could live with that.

Roxy: Yeah, what a life that would be -- dripping in dough, we could do nothing, we could do anything at any time we wanted.

Al walks into Rodi’s and sees Marcie.

Al's voice: Ok. Now be cool. You love her. Don't do anything stupid. Just -- just be cool.

His cell phone rings.

Al: Hello. Dr. McBain.

John: It's me. I need you to meet me at the police station, right now if you can.

Al: No, John, it's a really bad time right now.

John: You at work?

Al: No.

John: Then help me out. I need an opinion.

Al: Fine. It's going to have to be quick.

Al's voice: Oh, man. She is so beautiful.

In the meanwhile, Marcie continues to defend Jen’s virtue.

Marcie: You got to believe me. I know why you don't like Jen. But she's different now. She would never risk what she has with Joe by running around with Rex.

Natalie: Marcie, you would stand by Jen no matter what she did.

Marcie: No, you -- what -- I'm saying that I understand why you're mad.

Natalie: Yeah, because I don't want her to ruin Joe's life or Rex's.

Marcie: No, no. I think it's because of Cristian. Listen, I know how you feel. I did lose Al.

Natalie: This has nothing to do with Cristian's death. This has everything to do with Jen.

Marcie: Exactly. Jen caused a lot of problems for you and Cristian. Natalie, she's trying real hard to be a better person. Why can't you just give her this chance?

Natalie: I'm sorry, Marcie, but I'm not like you. Ok, what, do you think that people can just be good just because they want to at the time?

Marcie: Why not?

Natalie: You know what? Some people just can't.

Marcie: Natalie –

Natalie walks away.  Roxy and Ron return.

Roxy: Hey, Marcie, who won?

Marcie: Nobody. I'm going to head over to the campus.

Ron: All right, I'll walk you over.

Marcie: No. No, you stay.

Ron: Yeah?

Marcie: Yeah. It's a five-minute walk. Enjoy.

Roxy: Yeah, stay a while, hang out.

Ron: Ok, well, I was actually thinking about a big fat juicy burger. You?

Roxy: Yeah, I was thinking about a hotdog.

Man: I got a delivery for a Natalie Vega.

Natalie: That's me. Could you bring it around back for me?

Man: I already tried. It won’t fit in that door.

At the police station, John, Evangeline and Antonio are discussing the Music Box Killer case.

Antonio: What, are you working here now?

Evangeline: Yeah. Tonio, what's going on?

Antonio: Well, we might have a possible link between victims. Two of the girls took ballet classes, one of them took a modern jazz class.

Evangeline: What about the fourth?

John: I got something on Elyssa Collins. She took two classes, one in accounting at Groodon Community College and the other in classical dance at a studio on Grove Street. Huh.

Evangeline: Well, what's that about?

Antonio: Yeah, what?

John: No, it just -- it reminded me of something Natalie said at dinner tonight about how, you know, even strippers have bigger dreams about dancing.

Antonio: All right.

Evangeline: So all the victims were in some sort of formal dance training?

 John: I don't know.

Al walks into the police station.

Al: John, can we make this quick? What's up, Antonio?

Antonio: I'm sorry. Have we met?

At Rodi’s, Natalie is studying the delivery.

Natalie: This is the pool table from Crossroads.

Man: Yeah, I drove over there, picked it up, and brought it back.

Natalie: Ok, but who told you to do that?

Roxy: Hey, honey, it's bad luck. Never look a Trojan horse in the mouth.

Man: We were hired by a Mr. John McBain.

At the police station, Al tries to cover up his goof with Antonio.

Al: Uh -- I don't think that we've met.

Antonio: You said Antonio.

Al: Did I?

John: Yeah, you did.

Al: Funny -- I don't know --

Antonio: It's nothing, forget it.

John: This is my brother, Michael McBain. This is Evangeline --

Evangeline: Williamson.

John: Williamson.

Evangeline: Nice to meet you.

John: And Antonio Vega.

Al: Yeah, hi.

Evangeline: Excuse us. Do you mind stepping out with me so we can --

Antonio: No. Let's go. I'll see you later.

Evangeline and Antonio leave.

John: See you later.

Al: So, are we going to get this thing done or what?

John: Yeah. You sure you don't want some coffee?

Al's voice: Why is this guy getting under my skin? He's Michael's brother. Give the guy a break.

Al: You know what? I'm going to have that coffee. Straight and sweet.

John: We only got it one way.

Al: So you said there was something about a case?

John: Yeah -- serial killer. The first victim, Susan Gelman. Here's an autopsy report on all four.

Al: Hmm. Oh. Strangulations, all four. You see this? The hyoid bone is unbroken in this one.

John: What does that mean to you?

Al: Well, there's some ocular hemorrhaging, which is pretty standard with strangulation cases. But I'd say in this case with everything you got here, the last girl put up one hell of a fight, man. I really hope you catch this guy.

John: Yeah. Hey, thanks, Michael. It was -- it was a help.

Al: Listen, you know anything about the medical personnel around here? I mean, is there anybody competent? I mean, just because they have a degree doesn't mean anything. I mean, remember what happened to Dad.

John: You're talking about after he was shot.

Al: Yeah. And the guy who killed him -- I mean, he had a bustling surgical practice. Didn't mean anything, did it?

John: Yeah. I'd have to think that some of those people, the other doctors and nurses, they had to know that guy was drinking on the job.

Al: Nobody did anything in time to save our pop. I got to go. I'll see you.

John: I'll see you, Michael.

Al leaves.

At the Student Union, Marcie walks over to Jen and Rex.

Marcie: Hi, Jen.

Jen: Hey, Marcie. I'm just taking a study break.

Marcie: Rex.

Rex: Marcie. Hey. Look, the next Search-and-Destroy. Come, but don't enter. Let somebody else win, ok?

Jen: Rex --

Rex: Well, everybody will think the fix is in if you sing again. In fact, why don't you be our judge?

Marcie: Oh --

Jen: Yeah, why don't you just go pass out your fliers?

Rex: You'll be there, right? See you then. Marcie.

Marcie: Rex. Do you want to talk about Rex?

Jen: Rex? Why?

Marcie: Well, no, I was -- I was just thinking, you know, it looks like he was bothering you.

Jen: He always bothers me. Doesn't he bother you? That's just Rex, right?

Marcie: Yeah, but you're ok with that?

Jen: I don't really think about it. I just laugh at him. That's what you should do, too.

Marcie: Yeah, I guess. You know, I saw Joe a while ago at Rodi’s. He was looking for you. Maybe he's still there.

Jen: I guess I should go check on him.

Jen leaves and Al walks over to Marcie.

Marcie: Michael. What are you doing on campus?

Al: Actually, I was looking for you.

Marcie: Why?

Al hands her a single Gerber daisy.

Marcie: A single daisy. That's what Al used to give me.

Al: Listen, I want to apologize for anything that I may have said that might have upset you, especially that comment about your brother Eric. It was stupid, and I didn't mean it. I didn't mean a lot of the stuff I said that night.

Marcie: Ok.

Al: I hope you believe me.

Al's voice: Man, it's late. This guy's supposed to be doing rounds at the hospital.

Al: I got to go. I'll see you around?

Marcie: Sure.

Monday, November 24, 2003

At the police station, Marcie is working at her desk.

Antonio: Hey, Marce.

Marcie: Hi.

Antonio: You think you could do me a favor and run a check for me?

Marcie: Yeah, sure. Is it about the music box killer? I hope you guys find out who it is soon because it's got everybody just terrified.

John: Marcie, what we need is we need a list. We need a list of all the dance studios and any institution that teaches dance here in Llanview.

Marcie: Yeah, sure, I can do that. You know, my brother actually teaches dance at the community center. I'll put that one on the list first.

John: Your brother teaches dance?

Marcie: Yeah, Ron. He just moved here from Ridgeview.

John: Ridgeview, New Jersey?

Marcie: Yeah, that's where my family's from.

Antonio: Isn't Ridgeview where --

John: Susan Gelman, the first victim, is from.

Antonio: Right. And Matthew found the music box near the community center.

John: Yeah, you know, I think it would be a good idea to have a little talk with Marcie's brother Ron.

Antonio: Yeah.

John: Let's go see Bo.

At Rodi’s, Ron orders a beer.

Ron: Could I get a beer over here, please?

Roxy: Hey. Were you in a dogfight, or you just doing the wild thing?

Ron: Just doing what had to be done.

At Ultra Violet, Al approaches Riley and Flash.

Al: Hey.

Riley: Hey. What's up?

Al: I just want to say that I really, really love your new song, you know? It really spoke to me about how hard it is to get off the junk. You know, I think it's really brave of you to come out on such a personal level.

Riley: Thank you, but how do you know that about me?

Al: Uh -- I don't know. I must have -- I must have heard it around.

Flash: Yeah? Well, from who?

Al: You -- I don't know. You know, kids, they -- they talk. This thing, over here, this Search and Destroy thing -- this is tonight, right? And Marcie, she's -- she's a judge, right? Is she here yet?

Flash: She will be soon. Why? Does she know you?

At the police station, Joey walks in.

Joey: Hey, Marce.

Marcie: Joe. Hey, Joe, listen, I’m sorry. I heard about your mom.

Joey: Yeah. I was hoping Bo had some news.

Marcie: No, I just asked. There's no news yet. You know, why don't you go home? Listen, go home, wait there. I'll call you the minute I hear anything. You should be with Jen.

Joey: She's not there.

Marcie: Well, where is she?

Joey: I don't know. I was hoping maybe you could tell me.

Marcie: No. I – I don't know, I’m sorry.

Joey: Are you sure you don't have any idea?

Marcie: No. Sorry.

In a hotel, Jen finds herself in a tight situation and once again she turns to Rex.

Jen: Karen and I went to Atlantic City. We came back here to party, and I guess I just -- I passed out in the bathroom. And then all I know is I come out here and she's lying on the floor.

Rex: Ok. Come here. (Rex hugs Jen)

Jen: Oh, my God, what if I hadn't passed out? It -- it could have been me.

Rex: Look, don't even think about that, ok? He didn't get you. You're all right.

Jen: I can't believe the killer was right here.

Rex: Did you call anybody?

Jen: I called Joe, but I hung up. He couldn't know I was hanging out with a call girl all night.

Rex: What about 911?

Jen: No! They're going to tell him. Things are bad enough already between me and Joe.

Rex: Well, they're about to get worse.

Jen: I called you because I thought you'd help me.

Rex: I am -- by putting your marriage out of its misery.

Jen: What are you doing?

Rex: I’m not doing anything. You're calling the cops, ok? There's a killer out there, Jen. You got to do something.

At Rodi’s, Roxy studies Ron.

Roxy: That must have been some hellcat to give you a doozie of a lacteration like that --

Ron: I told you, I was working on my car, Roxy. Come on.

Roxy: What did your car do, wrestle you to the ground?

Ron: Yeah. Yeah, something like that.

In the hotel room, Jen explains her fears to Rex.

Jen: I can't call the police, and neither can you.

Rex: Jen, Karen's out there dead.

Jen: Don't remind me.

Rex: The police need to know.

Jen: He's going to know that I was with her.

Rex: Look, why don't you just face it -- your marriage is toast.

Jen: Ok, I messed up, but that doesn't mean that my marriage is over. Please. Please, please just help me. Joe won't ever forgive me, and I can't handle that. Please. Please, just don't call the police, please. Please?

Rex: All right, all right, all right, all right, all right. I'll take care of it.

At the police station, Marcie and Joey continue their conversation.

Marcie: You know what? I would go and help you look for Jen myself, but, well, I kind of got stuck judging the Search and Destroy contest, you know, because I won the first one.

Joey: You were pretty awesome.

Marcie: Al was awesome. You know, the way he ran the whole thing. He was just incredible, wasn't he?

Joey: Yeah. I just can't believe he's really gone.

Marcie: Yeah. I can't, either.

Joey hugs Marcie just as Al comes in.  He sees them.

Al's voice: I’m not gone, I’m right here. Maybe it doesn't look like me, but it's me. I’m the one you should be hugging.

In Bo’s office, John, Antonio and Bo discuss a possible suspect in the music box killings.

Bo: What makes you think that Marcie's brother could be the killer?

John: He's from the same town as the first victim, Susan Gelman.

Antonio: They went to high school together, graduated the same year.

Nora: Yeah, but this -- I mean, he's an incredibly nice guy.

Bo: Yeah, some of the most vicious killers are nice guys. Look at Ted Bundy.

John: Look, no one's accusing anyone of anything, but I think we should have a talk with him. So you can either do it informally or you can do it FBI style. It's your choice.

Bo: Well, I've got his cell phone number. It's a contact, an emergency contact number for Marcie.

Nora: That's the last thing Marcie needs right now.

Bo: Well, I'll try to break it to her in a real nice way -- if that's possible.

Nora: Hey, Antonio? Has Jessica said anything new about her mother, any updates?

Antonio: No, no. She's -- she's back at Llanfair, hoping, praying, but nothing as of yet.

Later, in the main room of the police station, Bo approaches Marcie.

Bo: Marcie, I wanted you to know that your brother's going to be coming in later on because we think that he might be able to help us with this music box killer case.

Marcie: Wait a minute -- you don't think that he has something to do with this.

Bo: No, I’m sure it's nothing.

Marcie: Yeah, but you're bringing him in here. You must think it's something.

Nora: Well, we think that he can help us fill in some pieces of the puzzle.

Marcie: Yeah, but why Ron? I know that he volunteers at the dance -- you know, to teach dance at the community center, but --

Bo: No, see, see -- look, Susan Gelman, who was the first victim -- she went to Ridgeview High School with Ron.

Marcie: So you think Ron knows her?

Nora: Or maybe he knows people who do.

Bo: Yeah. Hey, look, I just didn't want you to be surprised when you saw him walk in, that's all.

Marcie: Ok.

Bo: Hey, Joey, could I talk to you about Viki?

Joey: Yeah.

Al goes over to Marcie.

Al: You ok?

Marcie: What are you doing here?

Al: I came to see my brother, John.

Marcie: He's over there.

Al: Are you sure you're ok?

Marcie: Yeah. I’m sure, except for the fact that your brother's going after mine.

Al: Well, what did your brother do?

Marcie: Nothing. Now go away.

Al: Ok.

Al walks over to John.

John: Hey, thanks for coming over. What do you got for me?

Al: Got for you?

John: Michael, those medical reports.

Al: Oh, yeah. No problem. No problem.

Joey finishes talking to Bo and walks over to Marcie.

Joey: Hey.

Marcie: Hey.

Joey: Are you going to be ok?

Marcie: Yeah, I think I’d be a lot better if Michael McBain would just leave me alone. I mean, ever since I saved his life, I can't get rid of him. He shows up everywhere I go. I don't know whether to just be angry about it or scared.

Joey: He's not so bad.

Marcie: Joey.

Ron walks into the room.

Marcie: Ron? Ron, hey.

Ron: Hey.

Marcie: Hey, what happened to you?

Ron: Hey, it's just a little hassle with the car. Let me just find out what this is about, ok?

Marcie: All right.

John: Hey, Michael, excuse me, all right? Thanks for the help.

Al: Yeah.

John and Ron walk into Bo’s office.  Luna appears beside Al.

Luna: Hey. Didn't she have a crush on Joey Buchanan?

Al: Yeah, but that was before she met me.

Luna: How many times am I going to have to tell you -- you are not same "me" anymore. Look, this is who everybody else sees but me. Right now, Marcie thinks she can't -- she can't be with Al, so you're going to have to work a whole lot harder to get her to fall for this guy by Valentine's Day because if she falls for somebody else, you're sunk faster than a one-egg pudding.

At the hotel, Rex helps Jen cover her tracks.

Rex: Wiped down the bathroom. We just clear all traces of you here, we're gone.

Jen: You're pretty good at this.

Rex: Well, I've watched a lot of crime TV. All right, now, this is how you found her? You didn't move her, touch her?

Jen: No.

Rex: I really liked Karen.

Jen: Yeah, me, too.

Rex: This is not good.

Jen: Look, we got to get out of here before somebody comes.

Rex: I would love to see the creep who did this get his, but we just did him a big favor.

Jen: You did me a huge favor. I will never forget this.

Rex: While you go home to your husband.

Jen: I've got to make things right.

Rex: Sure. Do that. He needs you tonight.

Jen: Why? What happened?

Rex: Well, while you were out running around with Karen, he got bad news about his mom.

Nora comes out of Bo’s office and approaches Marcie.

Nora: It's almost over.

Marcie: How's Ron doing?

Nora: He's fine, ok? He's fine. He's being a big help.

Marcie: Ok. Thanks.

In Bo’s office, the interrogation of Ron continues.

John: How well did you know Susan Gelman in high school?

Ron: Well, we had a few classes together, I think, but it's not like we hung out or anything.

John: Where were you on election night?

Ron: Home.

John: Alone?

Ron: Yeah.

John: What about these other dates?

Ron: Uh -- well, I’m really not sure. It's too far back, but, you know, either I was working, I was hanging out with Marcie. And if I wasn't, I was home watching TV or listening to music.

John: Alone? You said that, yeah.

Ron: Yeah.

John: You're home alone a lot.

Ron: Yes, yes. I’m a single guy. I’m new in town. Why wouldn't I be?

Bo: What kind of music do you like to listen to?

Ron: All kinds.

Bo: Even classical?

Ron: You probably don't think I’m the classical type, but, yes, I like that, too.

At the hotel, the maid discovers Karen’s body.  She screams.

At Ultra Violet, Rex tries to calm Jen down.

Rex: If you need something stronger, say so.

Jen: I’m not going to start boozing it up. That's how I got into this trouble.

Rex: Relax.

Jen: Relax? How am I supposed to relax? I don't think I'll ever be able to relax again. Every time that I close my eyes, I just think about Karen.

Marcie rushes into Ultra Violet.

Marcie: Flash? Flash, how late am I?

Flash: Hey, don't worry, babe. They're running behind. Search and Destroy hasn't even started yet.

Marcie: Good. Something came up at the police station, and I couldn't leave.

Flash: I wanted to tell you that the new CD that Midnight Logic is cutting -- we're dedicating it to Al.

Marcie: Really? Oh, Flash, that's so nice. It would have meant so much to Al.

Flash: Hey, you know, he gave us our jump-start. I mean, I still remember him hanging out at the garage before we even got any gigs.

Marcie: Yeah, taping you guys for his show.

Flash: Yeah, you know, it's like he was this phantom DJ, you know, Al Holden by day and Voice of the Night by night. It's really just not the same without him, you know?

Marcie: Somehow the world seemed like it was a better place with him in it.

Sarah spots Al walking into the club.

Flash: Creep alert.

Marcie: Him again?

Flash: What is up with that guy? Does he have a thing for you or something?

Marcie: I don't know. Ever since I saved his life, he thinks he owes me something.

Flash: Hmm.

Marcie spots Jen.

Marcie: Listen, I'll catch up with you later. I got to go talk to somebody, ok? Bye.

In the meanwhile, Riley is talking to Natalie.

Riley: So, how is Barnes' journalism class? I need one more writing course for next quarter.

Natalie: I’m actually not really sure. Journalism's more Jessica's thing.

Flash: Hey, Nat, have you heard anything else on Aunt Viki?

Natalie: Nothing. In fact, I wouldn't even be here if Rex hadn't guilt-tripped me into coming. I’m going to call Jessica. I've got to see if something's going on, ok? Excuse me.

Natalie leaves.

Flash: So you're really going to do it, huh? You're really going to go back to school?

Riley: Yeah, I need to.

Flash: What about the tour? You know, we're working so hard, and we're almost there.

Riley: You guys go ahead. And I’m sure you could find someone to replace me.

Flash: I don't think anybody could ever do that.

Riley: I was thinking, why don't you enroll at LU with me?

Marcie approaches Jen.

Marcie: Jen, I’m so glad I found you. Joe has been looking all over for you.

Jen: I’m going to go home in a few minutes.

Marcie: I think you should go now because something has happened to his mom.

Jen: I know, I know. The plane went down.

Marcie: Well, then what are you doing here?

Jen: I need to get myself together first, ok? I just --

Marcie: Listen, I know you guys have been going through a lot, but I wouldn't worry about that, Jen.

Rex: We're going to start Search and Destroy. We need you up onstage, Marcie.

Marcie: We'll talk later, ok? Rex.

Rex: Marcie.

Marcie leaves.

Jen: Thank you for bailing me out again.

Rex: What's one more secret to keep from your husband?

Jen: Are you going to hold this over my head?

Rex: What do you think?

Jen: I don't know what I think anymore, ok? I can't even stop shaking.

Rex: Relax, huh?

Jen: I shouldn't even be here right now.

Rex: Do you really think you're ready to go home? I don't.

Jen: But I have to tell him where I was tonight. I’m going to have to lie to him. What if I can't do that?

Rex: Well, then he understands what happens and it helps you -- or not. Jen, if he loved you enough, he's the one you would have called tonight. He would have been the one cleaning up that room, covering for you, no questions asked. But, it wasn't him, was it?

Jen: I never would have been in this mess if it weren't for you because I met Karen through you, so you're --

Rex: Ok, why are you making this so hard, huh? We have a connection here. More than you'll ever have with Joe. We both come from crazy moms, we're a little crazy ourselves. Admit it -- we're a pair.

Jen: I belong with Joe. If I could just stop shaking.

On stage, Rex gauges the reaction of the crowd to the current act. Michael is standing next to Flash.

Rex: That was the Groovy Sisters, grooving to their 1960s remix. What do you say? Thumbs up, down?

The crowd boos.

Al: I say they suck.

Flash: I didn't ask.

Al: I mean, like, they suck in a good way, like, "Man, they suck!"

Flash: Aren't you here to see Marcie?

Al: Yeah. Yeah, I’m here to see Marcie, but she's busy. So you're her friend. I thought I’d hang out with you.

Flash: I don't think so.

Flash walks away.  Luna appears beside Al.

Luna: Any more bright ideas?

Al: You could help me out anytime here, Luna.

On stage, Rex continues to MC the show.

Rex: Ok, so we'll give the Groovy Sisters a -- but don't go anywhere because for our next act, we've got Billy Poindexter doing his impersonation of Lance Bass singing "Fly Me to the Moon."

Sarah walks over to Marcie.

Flash: That guy Michael's a stage-four freak.

Marcie: No kidding. Although sometimes -- I don't know -- actually, he's sort of lovable.

Flash: Are you kidding?

Marcie: No. I’m still shaken from when my brother was questioned by the police. Maybe I’m just not thinking straight.

Meanwhile at the hotel, John, Bo and Antonio confer.

John: What do you think about Ron Walsh? Looked like he was in a scuffle.

Bo: We'll check under her fingernails for skin samples.

Antonio: Well, doesn't look like we're going to find much here. This place has been wiped clean.

At Ultra Violet, Marcie is talking to Natalie.

Marcie: Yeah, Search and Destroy, it was, you know, really fun. It kind of took my mind off of everything.

Natalie: I can't believe this. I mean, what is Jen still doing here?

Marcie: No, she probably just wants to be out. You know, she's worried about your mother, too.

Natalie: Please. All she wants to do is party.

Marcie: You just said that you didn't want to be alone. That's why you came here tonight.

Natalie: She's a tramp.

Marcie: Natalie -- I'm not a therapist, but I think you might want to think about where all this anger is coming from.

In the meanwhile, Rex is trying to be supportive.

Rex: Jen, I'm not propositioning you, ok? You'll just feel better if you don’t have to pretend all the time.

Jen: So I should come home with you tonight?

Rex: You know, if you go home to Joe the good, you're going to have to keep covering up the fact that you were there when Karen was murdered. It's got to be exhausting, trying to hide what happened, and I just think that if you --

Joey: Jen -- what are you -- I've been looking all over for you. What are you doing here?

At the hotel, the police continue to process the crime scene.

Officer: This place is wiped clean.

Second officer: Bathroom probably is, too.

John: Keep at it, fellas. There's got to be something. Five women, their lives just snuffed out. Come on, John. You got to get inside this guy's head.

At Ultra Violet, Joey approaches Jen.

Joey: Jen, why are you here?

Jen: I'm sorry, ok? I -- I know I let you down with the fundraiser --

Joey: No, forget about all that! Just tell me why you were here.

Jen: Look, I wish I had been with you and not where I was, but I -- I love you. I love you, and you know that.

Joey: Are you going to answer me or not? Tell me the truth.

Jen: Ok. I was with Marcie. She needed me. She misses Al so much. And she's judging this Search and Destroy thing, and so we just -- we just talked for hours, and then I came here, and now it's over, so -- I was just talking --

Joey: Jen -- I talked to Marcie earlier at the police station. She had no idea where you were.

At a distance, Marcie and Natalie watch Joey and Jen.

Marcie: See? Jen and Joe -- they hooked up. Everything's going to be fine.

Natalie: Oh, come on, Marcie. She might as well drive a knife through his heart right now.

Marcie: Natalie, listen, this is hard for me to say, but we've both just lost someone that we loved more than anything. You know, maybe when we see other couples, it just kind of affects our judgment.

Joey walks over to Marcie.

Joey: Hey, Marcie. Can I talk to you a sec?

Marcie: Sure.

Joey: Hey, sis.

Natalie: I'll be back.

Marcie: Ok. So, what's up?

Joey: Listen, this may sound a little bit weird, but I've got to get to the bottom of something.

Marcie: Ok.

Joey: When I asked you earlier where Jen was --

Marcie: Mm-hmm.

Joey: We were at the police station and -- ahem -- Jen said she was with you, but when I asked you -- I mean, maybe I misunderstood -- but you said you had no idea where she was.

Marcie: Uh --

Joey: Marcie, do you know where Jen was tonight?

Marcie: Um –

At the crime scene, John tries to piece things together.

John: She was in the bathroom. She comes out. Obviously, she has no clue.

Officer: Grabs her from the back, snaps her neck. Goodbye, it's been nice knowing you.

John: Except she was found a long way from the bathroom door. Now, he had to have been hiding somewhere. The only place is maybe against this wall, like this. He's waiting. She comes out. He gets her about here.

Officer: Then she must've fought back.

John: She fights at least this far, into this area here, but she's slowly losing consciousness, her air is getting cut off, and then he strangles her. He strangles the life right out of her. Yeah. The M.E. will tell us if they found any D.N.A. under the fingertips. Got to get something. Anything.

At Ultra Violet, Joey presses Marcie to tell him the truth.

Joey: Marcie -- I need to know. Were you with Jen?

Marcie: Joe, I -- not until I came here tonight. I was at the police station, and then I came here to judge Search and Destroy contest. I have no idea where Jen was before that. Sorry.

Joey: Thanks.

Joey walks back over to Jen.

Marcie: Jen -- Marcie says she wasn't with you. I've been through this once before with Kelly, and I need to know -- are you having an affair with Rex?

Jen: No. No, that is so not true. That is just Natalie making up lies about me. She hates me. I'm not having an affair.

Joey: Then why did you lie? Why are you never home and -- what am I supposed to think?

Jen: I'm sorry. I love you. You know that, right?

Joey: Yeah. Yeah. I'm sorry. Where's your wedding ring?

Jen: I -- I don’t -- I mean, I -- I probably just left it at home.

Joey: You're lying to me again!

Jen: Joe -- come on, please don’t! I love you!

Singer: Face facts face facts now yeah

Jessica tries to stop Joey from storming away.

Jessica: No -- wait, wait. Stay. Joey, talk with me.

Joey: I don’t really feel like talking. She's not even wearing her wedding ring.

Jessica: Joey -- I'll be right back.

Marcie: Jen -- Jen, you can't do this to me.

Jen: I'm sorry.

Marcie: Joe was looking all over for you tonight, and I saw you here with Rex. Why are you lying about this?

Jen: Because I'm planning a surprise party for Joe here at Ultra Violet. And I wish I didn't have to come up with all these weird cover stories, but I want it to be a surprise.

Marcie: A surprise party? Jen, that's really nice, but you really expect me to believe --

Rex: I jotted down some figures for you, but if you want to cut expenses, you could just rent a section of the club. For the birthday party.

Jen: Right. Thanks. Just don’t tell anybody, ok?

Marcie: Ok. I'll talk to you later?

Jen: Oh. Thank you.

Rex: A quick lie about a phony birthday is nothing compared to what I did in that hotel room.

Jen: Oh, my God, Rex --

Rex: Shh. Relax. It's our secret.

Jen: You don’t understand. When I was drunk, I took my wedding ring off when I washed my hands. My ring is in the bathroom at the hotel room.

At the crime scene, John finds Jen’s wedding ring.

John: I need a bag.

Officer: What do you got?

Second officer: What is that?

John: We're going to find out.

At Ultra Violet, Marcie spots John.

Marcie: Agent McBain --

John: Marcie, what are you doing here?

Marcie: I was on my way home. Listen, I can't help it. I have to say something. I -- I know that it's just wrong -- it's really wrong of you guys to hold my brother for questioning. I know how these things work. Ok, so Ron -- he doesn't have a really good alibi, and, yes, he even knew the first victim. And, ok, so he teaches dancing, and I know that a lot of these victims were connected to dancing, but --

John: Marcie, will you stop, ok? Just -- stop. Ron's just being held for questioning. We are working on some leads right now that might take us to a viable suspect.

Marcie: Well, it's not going to be Ron.

John: I'm sure it won't be. Your brother seems like an ok guy to me.

Marcie: Please, you have to find another suspect.

John: I'm working on it.

Marcie: Hey. Hey, Natalie. You going home?

Natalie: I guess. You?

Marcie: Yeah. It's late.

Natalie: Incidentally, you may have been right before. I think maybe I've been taking a little bit too much out on other people.

Marcie: Uh-uh. No, you know what? To tell you the truth, I was worried about Jen myself. I actually did think that she might be hooking up with Rex myself, but it turns out that she was just planning a surprise birthday party for Joe and Rex is involved because she wants it to happen at Ultra Violet, so --

Natalie: Birthday party.

Marcie: Yeah.

Natalie: That's a surprise, all right. And if it turns out to be true, it'll be an even bigger one.

Marcie: Yeah. You don’t believe her.

Natalie: I -- I want to, so I'll keep trying.

Marcie: Yeah. It's a good idea. Let's do that for Joe's sake.

In the meanwhile, Rex tries to convince Jen that he will protect her.

Rex: Ok, my guy at the Palace said that the cops have left but the place is sealed up. There's no way that anybody is getting in there.

Jen: Rex, you got to help me. If the cops find the ring, they're going to know that I was there.

Rex: Shh. Just relax, ok? I will find a way to check it out. In the meantime, just stay here, wait it out. I –

John walks up to Jen and Rex.

John: Excuse me. Are you Rex -- Balsom?

Rex: Who wants to know?

John: Your cell number was found in the address book of a Karen Reeder.

Rex: Yeah, we're friends.

John: Did you know she was found murdered tonight?

Rex: Uh -- no. Oh, that's -- that's horrible.

John: How well did you know Ms. Reeder?

Rex: Uh -- not very. Um -- I mean, I always kind of sensed that she was into something a little -- you know, off, but, you know, she was cute, she spent a lot of time at my club, so who am I to complain, right?

John: Right, right. You see her tonight, Rex?

Rex: Uh -- tonight. No, I don’t think so.

John: Do you have any idea who she might have been partying with?

Rex: No, I've been here all night with Jen. We're planning a birthday party for her husband. Don’t tell anybody that, though, ok?

John: Sure.

Jen: Oh, God, thank you. I can barely breathe right now.

Rex: Just relax. Everything's cool. And do you get it now?

Jen: What?

Rex: How far I'll go for you.
