SIGNS & PORTENTS

LUNA

There are those of us who believe that Marcie is Al's Luna.  Marcie is Al's beautiful surprise, unexpected love, and soul mate.  She represents the pure selfless love that comes if one is lucky once in a lifetime. It is a love so powerful and  it's glow is so bright that it cannot be erased by bad decisions, foolish choices, betrayal or even death.  This love shines free among the mist of the soul--ever present, never changing, life sustaining.

Luna left messages behind about love and resilience.  In hindsight, it seems clear that the messages were a sign.  Luna was a harbinger of the gift Marcie's love will represent to Al. ~~Tessarae87

The Face of  Love

And, honey, when I'm gone -- which I must be if you're watching this -- I want you to let love find you again, and embrace it. Just make sure you find a woman that makes you happy. I mean, don't be swayed by a pretty face.   Find a woman with a good heart. She's out there. I promise you she is. You'll know you've found her because she's going to be there for you when you need her. She'll do just one pure act, one -- one selfless thing, putting you first instead of herself, and, darling, she's the one. You look deeply into her eyes and you're going to see everything that's true. You'll know everything about her. You'll instantly know everything that's hidden inside of her heart. (2.16.02)

I think I may have said something like this in a post on SZ, but it bears repeating. IMO Marcie is to Al as Luna was to Max. She's nothing like the other women he has or would have fallen for. Marcie is not the "IT girl" norm, neither was Luna. She's quirky, funny, and sweet. There is no pretense in who she is or how she feels about the people around her - much like Luna.

I honestly believe that Marcie will stand by Al through most anything, she will support him, love him and always be there no matter what. She's endearingly loyal and that's something that Al really, really needs. He needs his Luna and I personally believe Marcie is the one woman who can walk comfortably in Luna's footsteps. ~~digwriter (4.27.03)

Luna directed this message to Max but it seems obvious in hindsight this message was intended for Al as well.  Marcie after all  put everything on the line for Al to help him get off of  amphetamines.

"She's going to be there for you when you need her."

Marcie shut herself up in a room with Al and put herself in harm's way to save him.  She endured his wrath and stood steadfast against his rage.  And she gave him her strength when he thought he didn't have enough to bare it.

"She'll do just one pure act--one selfless thing, putting you first instead of herself, and, darling, she's the one."

It seems to me that Marcie is indeed the one for Al. ~~Tessarae87

Resilience

Darling, the only thing you got to do for Al is love him. You know what a special boy he is. He feels things more than most people, but he has more strength than most people, too. He may fall down, he may be hurting, but he's going to bounce back. Now, you trust him on that one. He will bounce back. He may fall down, he may be hurting, but he's going to bounce back. And you trust him on that one. He will bounce back. Honey, you know he will because he's just like you. He's got a good and caring heart. He's got a heart that's so full, it's overflowing like a waterfall. Darling, I don't have to throw the tarot to see Al's future. It's written right there in his heart. Someday he is going to find somebody to share that love with. He is going to find -- he is going to find the love of his life, darling, just like I found you. And even though she might be as contrary as you were, he might have to fight through thick and thin to win her love just like I won yours, but he will. And in the end, he's going to win her heart just like I won your heart, sweetheart. You can count on that now. (10.24.02)

I loved your comparisons between Luna & Marcie and ITA! I always liked Luna and I really liked Max with Luna. They had such a real, deep love between them and I thought Max was such a better person (for the most part) when he was with her. I really liked it when Max watched the Luna tapes Roxy found. I thought it was really sweet the way Luna spoke about Al and how he'll find his way. I'd love to think in a soapy, sappy way that Marcie is a gift from Luna to help Al find his way. I think he could be a better person for loving her and being loved by her. ~~Whlwtcher (4.27.03)

When Marcie told Gabrielle and Max about Al's addiction to drugs and the withdrawal she ended by saying: I'm asking you not to confront him.  Let him come to you and tell you himself.  The best thing you can do is just be there and love him.

"Darling the only thing you got to do for Al is just love him."

It seems obvious to me that although, in my opinion, Marcie & Al first began to connect on March 5, 2003,  their destiny was foretold and written across the stars by Luna a lifetime ago. ~~Tessarae87.
