This is The Sea Ranch, California, a former sheep ranch which has been turned into a community of homes which are supposed to "live in the landscape." There are a lot of rules and restrictions and covenants governing what houses can look like, where they can be built, etc. And a goodly portion of the acreage is common land.

The Sea Ranch is a peaceful place to be, and even though we spent our time there (September 13 - October 9) working on our house, we really enjoyed our stay. We are looking forward to a time when we can come out and just relax and enjoy the locale!

Because of high bluffs, most of the beaches along

the eight-mile length of The Sea ranch must be accessed by stairs!

spectacular!

While our primary purpose in going to The Sea Ranch was to make repairs, talk to contractors about major remodeling, and rearrange furniture, we took advantage of the fact that many of our friends live near enough to come up for the weekend!

The house, Rainbow's End, was built in 1978 and under normal circumstances, would be ours, free and clear in four more years --- but we refinanced this year so we can afford the repairs. It needs a new deck and new siding on the front sides, some more minor repairs inside, and perhaps a minor remodel or two, but we like it!
