Intro: Based in Romford, Essex, England, Underworld arose from the ashes of Freur in the late 80s. Underworld underwent several changes throughout the years. In 1983, Karl Hyde and Rick Smith gave start to the band. In 1988, "Underneath the radar" was released as Underworld who are now referred to as Underworld MK1 also known as Freur. Underworld MK1(see pic below) included Karl Hyde and Rick Smith amongst others as members but are a distant version of the Underworld who we now know and trust. In 1992, Darren Emerson joined up with Karl Hyde and Rick Smith to form Lemon Interrupt who later became Underworld MK2 - the Underworld we know now, although Darren Emerson left the band after a succesful spell again in 1999, to continue his djing carreer. The style of music on Underneath the Radar is far from that of Underworld MK2 and can only be described as cheesy 80's pop.
 Famous For: Underworld are famous for many tracks,with their most popular being "Born Slippy" and "Cowgirl". Apart from this they introduced a unique style which immortalises them. In the 1996 the movie named "Trainspotting", featured Underworld tracks in its soundtrack such as "Dark & Long", and in 1999 the song "Moaner" featured in the movie blockbuster "Batman & Robin".
Clubs: Underworld featured all around the globe basically. England, Japan(see pic below)....practically everywhere and possibly soon in Malta too. After a long time not performing, Underworld will be live again @ Creamfields in Liverpool 24th August 2002; the much awaited return is getting closer now!
