DIFFERENCES
BETWEEN AN "ARTIST" & "ENTERTAINER"
Town-Crier |
|
Entertainmer |
|
|
|
Their
goal is to be a "Town-Crier" to share the stories,
struggles, victories, personal insights, goals, dreams, obstacles,
loves, observations and joys of the Asian/Asian Pacific American
communities. |
Definition |
As
an entertainer, their main purpose is to provide an escape
(via laughter, sharing of fantasies, song & dance, theater,
etc.) and comfort through the arts while meeting the needs
of their employer. |
|
|
|
One
of their main priorities is to share their personal tales
of their respective lives, victories, obstacles, struggles,
relationships, dreams, etc. that are part of their every day
lives. ("No one will know who we are until we know
who we are" (Malcolm X) |
Stories |
Their
main purpose is to mainly provide soothing stories and/or
innocous tales of romantic relationships within a comforting
musical backdrop. |
|
|
|
By
incorporating important historical information, one gains
an accurate perspective(s) of the various reasons behind the
many stories that are being shared through songs. |
History |
Entertainers'
priorities and purpose does not include providing any type
of perspectives beyond tales of romantic love shared through
their songs. |
|
|
|
Knowledge
of our communities' artists (past and present) and their works
are important to affirm their achievements, recognition of their
place in history and to learn from their respective stories. |
Past
Works |
Providing
the ability to forget the past, present and/or future through
vocal or music ability is the main priorities of entertainers |
