| Sailor Moon Act 2: Amy a.k.a. Sailor Mercury By Naoko Tacheuchi |
|
The act begins in the darkness of the enemy's base. The warrior Jadeite, who was looking for the Silver Imperium Crystal during the first act, apologizes to his leader, Queen Beryl. The queen is unhappy with his failure and alludes to their "great master" who has commanded them to collect energy and find the Crystal. After another day of junior high school, Bunny returns home with Luna, who is greeted by Bunny's mom as "crescent-moon bald-spotted kitty". They enter Bunny's room and Luna informs Bunny she will continue to fight the enemy and be a champion of justice. However, Bunny is scared of the non-human creatures that attacked her earlier, and would rather just be a normal girl. But, Luna insists that Bunny needs to find her fellow warriors and protect the princess, which distracts Bunny from her complaining enough to daydream. Luna then tells Bunny she may have found the second scout. While Bunny is sleeping, Luna goes to the video arcade Bunny frequents, using the Sailor V game consul as a computer to look up information on a girl named Amy, a genius who goes to school with Bunny, as well as a cram school called Crystal Academy. At school the next day, Bunny talks to her friends, including Molly and Melvin, about the Girl Genius (Amy). Bunny muses about Crystal's proximity to the video arcade, and Melvin informs everyone the Amy's mother is a doctor. Bunny's friends decide Amy is snobby because she always studies and never talks to anyone. On the way home, Luna jumps into Amy's arms, who thinks Luna is cute and soft. Bunny decides Amy is not a snob and introduces herself, and invites her to the video arcade. After spending her change in the Sailor V game, Bunny asks Amy if she would like to try. Since she observed Bunny, Amy picks up the game quickly and takes the top score. She gets a prize out of the game slot, a special pen which Bunny think is cool. So, Bunny beats on the game until another pen comes out for her. Amy thinks this is funny, and Bunny asks if she wants to be friends. Amy agrees, but then has to leave for cram school. She goes every day because she wants to be a doctor. At the school, the instructor tells Amy she needs to "keep raising" her "level" because others are trying to catch up with her. The next day, Bunny and her friends talk about the Crystal Academy, which uses a new method of studying where everyone uses a PC and studies off of disks. Amy does not use the disk, however, because she likes note taking better. As Bunny and her friends are on the way out for ice cream, she invites Amy to come along. However, Amy remembers the words of her instructor from the previous day and decides to go to cram school instead. Luna appears on the scene as Bunny is wondering about Amy blowing her off. They pick up a disk that Amy dropped and a Crystal Academy poster and Luna tells Bunny that she might want to study more herself. Bunny crumples the poster and tosses it, right onto the guy she saw previously who wears a tuxedo. He asks if her cat just talked, but Bunny replies "of course not!" and runs off. But, there's something about himÉ At the AV lab, Luna puts Amy's disk into a computer. At first, everything appears normal. But then Bunny hits the monitor a few times and they discover a brainwashing program hidden on the disk by the enemy. Bunny goes outside to find everyone heading toward Crystal, all brainwashed, including Amy. Luna tells Bunny to use her pen from the arcade to morph. She calls out "Moon Power" and is disguised as a doctor. Bunny the doctor rushes into the Academy and snaps Amy out of her brainwashed stupor. Luna tells Bunny to morph into Sailor Moon, which she reluctantly does. The instructor, who is an agent of the Dark Kingdom, throw razor sharp exam papers at Sailor Moon, which sends her into a crying fit that Luna must snap her out of. Meanwhile, the enemy captures Amy, since she is not brainwashed. Amy struggles and Luna calls out to her to use her own pen from the arcade. The planet symbol for Mercury flashes on her forehead and the room fills with icy cold fog. The enemy loses Amy, but then finds Sailor Moon in the mist. Tuxedo Mask comes up behind her, and tells her to use her Sailor Moon Kick, which she does, and then he just as quickly disappears, telling her to help her friend. Using her Moon Frisbee attack, Sailor Moon slices the enemy in half. The fog begins to clear. Amy and Sailor Moon are both surprised at Amy's sailor outfit. Luna smugly informs them both that Amy is the water warrior, Protector of Mercury, Sailor Mercury. Amy is shocked and Sailor Moon is excited that she is no longer alone. |
