History:  The following is from the works of Rev. Gammon.  This book is now out of print as far as I know!  I offer it here to help others trying to deal with and place Richard Gammon's (good luck) - I have been able to prove most of this information ~ if you have information to share please contact us as we are always willing to share information.

The following is taken in part from Rev. Gammon who's work has been able to focus me on my research with this branch of the family. -  born 1788 in Sullivan Co., Tn most likely where other children were born, he a son of 1st Richard; he died 9/13/1851 age 97 years as given by near relatives. He is only Richard who can be reliably given in this place, as Richard 3-3 and others have been truthfully given and accounted for. Richard born 1805 married Mary Chester is properly placed in accord with reliable records. It is not easy here with absolute certainty to state just which Richard rode on horseback from TN at close of civil war rode to GA. (It is my findings so Far that this was Richard II).  One of best informed on this branch says that one Richard Gammon attended Princeton NJ University. It seems certin that a Richard rode horse back from TN to GA continued to live there and that parts of the family had already moved to GA before close of the war. Richard b. 1788 is not given in official family records of TN but persons well informed on the family of GA state he married Susan Wantland of Baltimore Md not Blanton (many gave Blanton) , (I have only been able to show Wantland or just plain Susan) reliable information states they settled and continue to live in Sullivan County TN, no information has been found to confirm or contradict this.
