Reader Reviews |
|
From Andre' Mes - | |
Although very different to the other Courtneys Of Africa novels, I still enjoyed A TIME TO DIE very much. The character of Sean Courtney is very arrogant, yet I still liked him. He is not too different from his own great grandfather, General Sean Courtney, who also defied the odds in the bush. Smith knows the bush very well and is able to create the scene to the very last detail. I actually feel that I'm there - which is the main reason why I enjoy Smith's novels so much. The heart-stopping pace at which he unravels the story makes one want to read more and more. I couldn't put this one down. HINT: Despite the chronological order, read this one AFTER GOLDEN FOX. It just seems very out of place of the Courtney saga and will give GOLDEN FOX a sense of completion if read in sequence. | |
...one is enthralled by this ability to conjure up the sights, smells and sense of the bush. - Ted Willis |
