the same building that housed the headquarters of the French Compagnie
Universelle du Canal Interoceanique during the French effort to build a
canal through Panama 1880-88. In 1904 the building was transferred to the
United States for use as the headquarters of the U.S. Isthmian Canal
Commission until 1910 when the building was transferred to the Panamanian
government.)
