The Red Dwarf Beginner's Manual

WHAT IS RED DWARF? Red Dwarf is a science fiction comedy made in Britian. It began airing in 1988 and will enter its 8th season in January 1999. It is by far one of the best shows on television today.

THE CAST

LISTER
Put in stasis on the Jupiter Company Mining Vessel Red Dwarf for hiding his unquarantined cat Frankenstein, Lister, 3rd technician, emerges only to discover that three million years have passed, the entire crew is dead and he is the only human left alive. David Lister is a basically nice guy with retatded self hygiene. He loves curries, pomodoms, and lager. His dream is to move to Fiji and have a farm with sheep and horses. He is madly in love with Kochansky. He is also god to the cat race, but known to them as Cloister the Stupid.

RIMMER
The second lowest person on the ship (superior to only Lister), Rimmer was killed in the radiation leak aboard Red Dwarf, but brought back as a hologram by the ship's computer to keep Lister sane. Arnold Judas Rimmer is an insufferable git, universally disliked. He is cowardly, spineless, and hopeless. He attributes his utter failure in life to the fault of being raised by the wrong parents. In an alternate reality, he is Ace Rimmer, loved hero of the people.

CAT
The cat is the great great great great great....descendant of Lister's cat, saved from death because it was locked in the hold. He was raised on the stories of Cloister the Stupid, and roamed the ship by himself until Lister was released. He is a vain, self centered, shallow creature with a bigger wardrobe than Ivanna Trump. He thinks he is the perfect person. Hiding deep within him is Dwayne Dibbly, an incredible dork with a penchance for plastic shoes and siedways pressed flares(bellbottoms).

KRYTON
A series 4000 android, Kryton killed his crew and floated aimlessly in space until being rescued by the Red Dwarf. He is very attatched to Lister, and finds Rimmer completely insufferable. He can lie and swear, thanks to Lister's teachings,but has problems getting "smeghead" out. He is the parental figure aboard, keeping most of the crew in check.

HOLLY/HILLY
Ship's computer with a IQ of 6000, but it's really more like 68 (can you say Forrest Gump?). Somewhere in the middle, Holly gets a sex transplant and becomes Hilly.

MINOR CHARACTERS
Kochanski - the love of Lister's life. The Kochanski from a paralell universe was brought over to Red Dwarf, and she lived with the boys for a time.
