CYT
goes on-line
25/05/00
Working in today's ever expanding knowledge
base, as some one once said. That's what CYT are now doing. As part of an initiative for
Cumbernauld Youth Theatre to become recognised as an organisation independent of
Cumbernauld Theatre, this website has been launched. As all great things, this had a humble beginning. Two members of CYT were conversing over the internet, when one (a Mr. Alasdair McLean) stated that he felt Cumbernauld Youth Theatre should have a website. The associate he was conversing with (a Mr. Daniel Cumming) thought this was a splendid idea and offered to help creation of the proposed website. In that evening Alasdair McLean got to work: the webspace on tripod, the e-mail account with hotmail and the earliest version of this website were all created. Since then the design has been expanded, the content increased and the appearance improved. Despite the website having less than a handful of people to maintain it, the entire Youth Theatre has shown interest. Articles have been written by the youth theatre, pictures, and literature donated. The greatest quantity of literature to be given, was provided by Cumbernauld Theatre's community drama worker, Evelyn Wallace. A comprehensive record of all plays performed by the CYT was kept by Evelyn who also collected all newspaper articles related to the plays in several folders. Eventually, all this information will be stored in the archive, creating a comprehensive guide to all of CYT's plays since the 1980s. With the combined efforts of all the Youth Theatre, we hope this website will become a one of our groups greatest assets, and be part of it forever. |
