A big thumbs up to Arnold Clark In Carbrain who are kindly donating a Mini - bus totally gratis for us to go down to London in. Deposits for the trip HAVE to be in for Tuesday 15th May with the full balance being in for Tuesday 28th May to give us time to process everything and get it sent off. Places are on a first come first served and are pretty limited unless you wanna sit on the roof all the way down!!

With easter looming near we all
should be remembering what it is all about and reading
the Bible is always a good way to refresh our memories.
However if reading is not your bag baby! Then why not
toddle off down to Cumbernauld Theatre
on the 4th to the 7th of April and see it in all its
glory with your own eyes as Cumbernauld Youth
Theatre along with the 1 in 100
group and No Mean Co. take on their
version of the good book. We tell the story of the Bible
from start to finish (in a shorter format of course) with
stoneface and laughter it sure to be one for all the
family. |
Every month Morgan Stanley Dean
Witter (a firm with branches operating in Cumbernauld and
London) gives £50 to an organisation or charity randomly
chosen from a list nominated by it's employees. Corin
MacKenize (CYT member and MSDW employee) nominated Cumbernauld
Youth Theatre for the £50 prize, and we won!! |
At the last AGM, CYT
were hopeful that the production of "Alseep Under
the Dark Earth" could be taken on a tour of 4 other
theatres. During the production of the show this looked
unlikely, however a final decision is yet to be made. The
Youth Theatre is waiting with bated breath for the final
decision, as if the play were to tour, it would be the
first time in the Youth Theatre's history. |
CYT after
finishing Asleep Under the Dark Earth are wasting no more
time in getting their next play under way. Rehearsal for
"The Mysteries" were taking place before
"Asleep..." was even performed. "The
Mysteries" is a collection of short plays from
traditional bible stories. After talking with CYT
members there is a lot of enthusiasm amongst the cast for
this production, which will be a more light hearted
affair than "Asleep..." was. |
Cumbernauld Youth Theatre has completed a 4 show run of Asleep Under the Dark Earth. This play was first commissioned by the BT National Connections competition (a nation wide youth theatre competition) five years ago. The production was performed to sell out and near-sell out audiences every night! |
£30 of the money
we got from doing the Stirling Youth Theatre fundraising
is going towards hiring the mini bus for an extra day so
that we can go to London a day early (on Thursday night
instead of Friday morning) so we won't miss Friday down
there. |
We are going to
Stirling at the weekend to help Stirling Youth Theatre
with their fundraising (doing face painting again!!) and
for this act of great generosity they are giving us £100
towards our funds. (hooray!!) |
Yup, the Web Site has a new address. http://www.cyt.org.uk |
On Friday
26th May and Saturday 27th, members
of Cumbernauld Youth Theatre will be helping out at
Cumbernauld's Adsa supermarket's fundraising event for
autistic children. Members of the Youth Theatre
will be present to face paint any willing customers for
50p. The money from which will go to the
cause. This is not where CYT's collaboration with
Asda ends however, as at the moment a date is being
organsied for CYT members to be busy bag packing to raise
money for Cumbernauld Theatre. Keep an eye on this
page for updates. |
