Visit to HDB flats @

1. Stirling Rd 2. Tiong Bahru 3. Geylang Bahru

HDB Stirling
45/49/52 STIRLING ROAD (140045)/(140049)/(140052)

HDB flats at Stirling Rd consists of 7-storey high-rise blocks... ... as well as low-rise houses built by HDB in the early 1960s.

Residents of the 7-storey flats dump their rubbish at common rubbish dumps, which are found at the ends of the corridors. With shady trees, quiet lanes and flats untouched by redevelopment, the HDB estate at Stirling Rd has a laidback charm.
As the population of Queenstown ages, playgrounds are left desolated. The fate of the HDB estate at Stirling Rd remains unknown as 40-storey replacement flats are being constructed across the road.

3 TIONG BAHRU ROAD, HDB TIONG BAHRU PREWAR (162003)

2A BOON TIONG ROAD, HDB BOON TIONG POSTWAR (164002)

A prewar HDB flat at Tiong Bahru Rd awaits demolishing while a 30-storey replacement flat behind looms over it. Dilapidated building facade is a sign of on-coming redevelopment.
The 4-storey walk-up apartment has no elevator. Its staircases are cluttered with newspapers and furniture. A 30-storey replacement flat (Blk 2A Boon Tiong Rd) has been completed and it promises a better living environment.
New 30-storey flats at the edge of Tiong Bahru overlooks the SIT/HDB flats. Across the road is Blk 53, another prewar HDB flat. The residents have moved out 3 years ago and the flat is due for conversion into a cheap budget hotel.

Upgraded HDB flats @ Geylang Bahru

68 GEYLANG BAHRU, HDB-KALLANG BASIN (330068)

A bright and cheerful Geylang Bahru Estate seen from Kallang River. Behind me are new 5-room flats and upgraded 3-room flats. Last but not least, 'Ok No Problem!' was filmed right behind me (Blk 68 #12-3201)! Geylang Bahru is one of the older HDB estates with 4-digit unit numbers.
