This summer consisted mainly of my internship with the Harrisburg Senators, the AA affiliate of the Montreal Expos. It was truly one of the best times that I've ever had, which is a plus, since i want to work for a baseball team when I graduate and get a real job...
I guess mostly what I'll have here is pictures... but I will also tell you a little bit about the season, since it was unbelievable! The season didn't start out in a very promising way... the Senators quickly fell to last place in the Southern Division of the Eastern League. After a while though, they started to win.
The next thing you know, they were fighting for third place, and then surpassed the Bowie Baysox for second place, which they managed to hold onto until the end of the season. It took 4 games for the Senators to defeat the Erie Seawolves in the Southern Division playoffs. In the Championship series, Harrisburg split the first 4 games with the Norwich Navigators. Game 5 was more than anyone expected....
The lead switched back and forth many times during the game... Going into the bottom of the 9th inning, Harrisburg trailed 11-7. Bases were loaded with two outs, and they scored one run. Then the leadoff hitter came to bat, being 0-4 with three strikeouts that game. He worked to a full count.... the 3-2 pitch he hit out of the park.
Grand slam to win the Eastern League championship for an unprecedented 4th year in a row! Ok, now for pictures!!!!
To calm the whining that I receive constantly via e-mail, I would like to take this opportunity to talk about two wonderful people that I met this summer, Jacki and Jim. They are our favorite Senators fans. This summer would not have been the same without them, and we (Karen and I) are very happy to have met them. And I can't wait until next season when they will be running Hag's and Swag's Hots and Hops.
Back to Absolut Heaven.
