life and the future
well, it's been a rather extraordinary long time since i've last written anything in here.
somewhat surprising, considering how much has happened. or maybe not that surprising at
all, for the exact same reason.
but right now i think i'm writing to pretty much close up this whole thing. i really don't
see having any time to do webpage work in the future, despite how much i can enjoy it at
times. i don't think i'm going to have my computer with me at work, and even if i do, i
doubt i'll have internet access.
before i go, i will provide anyone who may possibly look at this (probably no one at all,
but i have hope) with a brief update on what has happened since the end of march.
1. i accepted a job with the san juaquin county outdoor education school. i'm positively
excited by this, i can't believe i'm actually going to get paid to live in the redwoods,
right near the ocean, and play with kids. how the hell does that work? it's something
i've wanted for so long, but it's still strange that it's what i'm actually going to be
doing for a while.
2. the biggie: i graduated. whoohoo! i am now walking around, a college graduate, with
a degree in biology. does this mean i get to call myself a biologist? i don't think so.
i certainly don't feel like a biologist. anyway, the excitement of graduating was coupled
with the sadness of saying goodbye, of letting some people go, probably forever.
3. i moved to colorado. i'm working for the division of wildlife, doing field research.
and i love it. so much. my job is amazing, i get to travel all over colorado and camp
all the time. the people i work with are great, very wonderful, beautiful human beings.
it's pretty much been a summer of dreams. so much fun. when i'm not out camping i live
in fort collins, which is an excellent place to be. it's so nice to finally be in a college
town after 4 years of college in a non-college town. i just can't believe i'm leaving in
3 weeks. 2 months just fly by so quickly.
4. i'm returning to california, buying a car, and driving to madison, wisconsin. two of
my dear friends from sfs, briana
and krista, are living there, and briana and i have decided that it's about time we finally
see each other again. last time i saw anyone from the program was december 1998. long
time ago. so, i'll drive out there, hopefully get up north to the great lakes region,
and then travel east to meet
neil halfway between wi and ma.
well, okay, there it is, a quick update on life. and a goodbye, for now, i guess.
if you'd still like updates on my life, or if you just want to talk to me, please email
me at
thank you.
