i really enjoyed my day today. it leaves me with a very satisfied feeling.
david and i took the train in and went to the pma. he had to sit and
study a painting for arth1, but i was free to roam. which was nice, since the
last time i was at the pma i had to sit and look at a painting. so i
spent most of my time in the 20th century art gallery, which i love. i fell
in love all over again with van gogh, and gave much appreciation to renoir.
he was a man with a great appreciation of the female body. i spent most of my
time in the duchamp exhibit. given: 1. a waterfall 2. an illuminating lamp
really intrigued me. i was watching people's reaction to the work. most
people stepped up to the entrance to the room it was in, and peered in
without even going inside. all they saw was the wooden door, and they tended
to walk away looking confused. while i was there, the only people to actually
come up and look through the holes in the door did so only after seeing me
do it. i guess that was another facet to the work: some people will see
only the door, others will realize that there's something more to it.
so, due to the extensive amount of rain which was falling (and still is), david and i got a ride back to swat with emily and her parents. we hung out in my room, then ordered chinese to satiate our appetites. it's so good to eat food out of sharples. after eating, we listened to the rain and did some digesting.
there is such an organic feeling in the air right now. it's still sticky from the humidity, but it's pouring and making the outside smell wonderful. plus i'm surrounded by all these plants in my room, so i can smell dirt and feel plant respiration. it makes me want to run outside and jump in a mud puddle and then wash off in the rain. it makes me wish amber was here so we could run out to a field and pee together. it makes me want to go skinny dipping.
while it's beautiful, i hope it's not so humid and cloudy tomorrow; i have to be able to go outside and take some pictures. take lots of pictures.
