I love to dance. I am a ballerina. Ballet is really, really cool and it's fun. I like ballet because we do fun stuff and we dance. This Christmas, I got to be in the Nutcracker. I was a little girl in the Party Scene. One day I want to be the ballerina doll, Clara, or even the Sugar Plum Fairy, but I have to learn how to dance en pointe first. My ballet teacher says I can't dance en pointe until I'm eleven years old. She says my bones have to become solid so I won't hurt myself and walk funny forever.
My ballet teacher is a wonderful lady named Miss Dolly. She is really, really sweet. She teaches lots of little girls and boys like me. She has been teaching a long time and mom says a lot of her students go on to dance in famous companies around the world. Right now I belong to Miss Dolly's dance company called Repertory Dance Theatre. That is the company that did the Nutcracker this year.
Miss Dolly is also teaching me how to tap dance and how to dance jazz. I like ballet the best. Miss Dolly once told me I had beautiful legs. Mom says that the best compliment a dancer can get, especially from a teacher as special and wonderful as Miss Dolly.
I love to draw Miss Dolly pictures of ballerinas. Especially ballerinas doing the basic positions and first steps like plies and tondus. Miss Dolly says that ballet words are French so I'm sort of learning another language as well as how to dance.
