"Fill Me Up" Drinks
There are lots of good "fill me up" drinks I like to try during the week to keep me full and satisified, but "cost" me little in terms of exchanges. My favorite is Chai Tea in the morning. For one serving, bring 1 cup of water to a boil with 1 tea bag. Add 1/2 teaspoon ground cardamon, 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger and 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon. Strain this mixture when it cools and add 1/2 cup milk. Another favorite is what I call Cool Coffee. Mix in a blender 1 cup of milk. 2 tablespoons of sugar-free instant coffee mix (such as international coffee) and 3 ice cubes. This becomes frothy. I often top spaghetti with an assortment of fresh or frozen vegetables sauted in soy sauce and fresh grated ginger. The only thing you have to count is the spaghetti. If you have any protein to spare, crumble up feta cheese or goat cheese on top for added flavor. Or, if you have a fat to spare, add sesame oil to the veggie mixture. I could eat this every night with different vegetables! Back to Menu
Frozen Fruit Drink
1/4 cup lo-cal cranberry juice 3/4 cup FROZEN berries dash lime juice selzer water Mix all together in a blender and drink! Add seltzer water incase drink is too thick! It is a thick drink - I added the seltzer water to thin it out! Makes 1 serving = 1 fruit I hope you enjoy it! I made mine with a small Braun hand held blender and it did great - that way you can make it in the same cup you will drink it out of! Back to Menu

Smoothies
They're great for breakfast or a snack. 3 ice cubes 1/4 cup water or apple juice 1 banana 3 strawberries, frozen Put 3 ice cubes in blender with 1/4 cup water or apple juice. Chop. Add a banana - frappe. Then add three frozen strawberries or maybe some blueberries. Frappe some more! Pour into a tall glass. By varying the amount of ice or liquid, you can vary the texture from a milkshake or frappe type thickness which requires a spoon to a more liquid-like, easy-to-drink beverage. I happen to add a bit of a food supplement for extra vitamins and minerals and try to calculate the extra calories into my daily plan. It's quick - a bit more fun than the usual and if you're really rushed, you can drink it in the car! Back to Menu
