I had to look this up, it seemed so improbable that a cat could be named
Catamongus purely by whim.  It may be so, but there is more.
Turns out
there was a thoroughbred horse by that name, in New Mexico, I believe,
about 20 years ago.  Ran some races, made a few dollars.  Probably glue
by now.
The cat's name is January.  Editor's wife's personal cat.  He roves.  When
he comes home, he is  "among- us."  When he leaves again,  he  is  "awump-

Dear Eleanor:
I recently attended a wedding and was video-
taped dancing.  I'm not a great dancer,  and  I
looked silly; so I asked that the video be dele-
ted.  Instead, it was passed around; and every-
one laughed and made fun of me.   It was em-
                            barrassing and hurtful.

My husband says I’m overreacting.  Am I?   I
said nothing and intend not to,  but I can’t get
                            it out of my mind.

's suggestion  on  how  to  deal  with obnoxious barking

I have heard of a device that will sound a loud horn in
response to a dog's bark.  But  if  that  doesn't work,  I
would rather spare the dogs  and  shoot the  neighbors.
Animal Control will take care of the dogs.
What our dear Eleanor said, exactly, was "Shoot the sons of
bitches – with a real gun."  But you might note that  she  did
not say exactly whom to shoot  –  the dogs, or the neighbors
who harbored them.  One might say,  "Well,  she  meant  the
dogs, of course, because only dogs are born of bitches." But,
then,  there's  that  pejorative  slang  we all know.  We're not
sure you and Eleanor disagree. . . .    – Editor

Dear Eleanor:
I’ve read so many stories in your column about ter-
rible in-laws.  I'm sure most in-laws think they are
wonderful and justify their behavior.  My daughter
is getting married next fall,   and I don’t want to be
one of those people.     I'd love to see guidelines on
being the mother-in-law people wish they had,  and
I’m sure others would, as well.
                                                                                             MIL to Be
Dear Tobe:
Keep your advice sexual. Cleveland Steamer, or not?
Dirty Sanchez,  or not? Donkey Punch, or not?  Old
Egyptian Tea Bag,  or  not?   Let him know she may
love the Old Rusty Trombone,  and  that  a  German
Knuckle Cake might really make her moan.

HOW TO UNSUBSCRIBE:

Remember, if you don't want to receive any more of this inane crap,
just hit your "Reply" button and type in the subject line, "GET THESE
TABLOID HEADLINES OUT OF MY LIFE AND FUCK OFF!"

But remember also, you have to spell and punctuate the message
exactly as it appears above €“ without quotation marks, and without
that redundant "Re: " that appears in so many subject lines €“ or you
will keep getting this shit!  ("Cut and paste" won't work, either.  We
have a special filter to detect that.)
