Dear Eleanor:
My granddaughter is getting married in August,  for
the third time.  The first time I attended the wedding
and gave a generous gift.  The second time,  I sent a
                            card with a small check.

Am I obligated to attend this wedding?  It  is  out  of
state, which means a plane fare and a hotel bill,  plus
maybe another gift. I say no more; a card will suffice.

People say I am wrong, but there comes a time when
"no" is the only answer in my book.   My daughter is
upset that no one in the family went to another daugh-
ter’s wedding – which was her second marriage, also,
                            and in another state.

I would like to know what you think.

                                                                      Grandmother Doesn’t Get It

Dear Granny:
I  get  it.  Send the cards to
the first two husbands – with
checks.  And stay home.  Maybe the wedding will be on
                            coronavirus TV.

Remember, if you don't want to receive any more of this inane crap,
just hit your "Reply" button and type in the subject line, "GET THESE

But remember also, you have to spell and punctuate the message
exactly as it appears above €“ without quotation marks, and without
that redundant "Re: " that appears in so many subject lines €“ or you
will keep getting this shit!  ("Cut and paste" won't work, either.  We

Don't even  think  about it

Dear Eleanor:

My 20-year-old daughter refuses to  get  a  driver’s  license.
She took the learner's permit test  four  times  when she was
16 and failed each time.  She goes to college on line and has
a job at a local store.  Next week she is going to be promoted
                            to assistant manager.

I don’t work, but I'm tired of driving her around. We live in a
small town that has no public transportation.  Every time her
father or I mention getting her license, she says, "Don't start."

She doesn't date but is very involved in church.  She  has  her
own phone, which she pays for; and she pays for my gasoline,
                             too.  What do I do?
                                                                                             Tired of Being a Taxi

Dear Cabbie:
                            Get her a bicycle.

Dear Eleanor:
My wife has a serious medical condition that  will  e-
ventually take her life.  In addition to the stress of be-
ing a caregiver for her and our child and working full
time, I also find myself increasingly lonely.  She may
live for years with this condition though not fully her-
self.  Already I am more caregiver than husband. Sex
ended a year-and-a-half ago. I find myself wanting to
be with someone, but fearing it may never happen.  I
didn’t date that much before we married, and even if
I could give myself permission to  be  with  someone
while my wife is still alive, it would get complicated
with family and friends  who would see it as not hon-
oring our vows.  I’m  middle-aged,  but I may be old
by the time my wife dies.    Am I doomed to years es-
sentially alone with no prospects of sex or companion-
                            ship?

                                                                                    Lonely Caregiver
Dear Lonesome:
Nah!  Put her in a home under a contract that obli-
gates you to provide for her for  her  life;  divorce
her with the same provision, and go from there.

Or off her.  If that's too nasty for your tastes, there
                                are hit men out there.

Dear Eleanor:
My fiancée has tested positive for  the  coronavirus.
The wedding has been put off;  and my parents and
my  doctor,  and  even  my  pastor,  have told me to
stay  away  from  her.  And it kills me just to talk to
her on the telephone,  with the notion that  I  cannot
feel her.  What do I do?
                                                                              Perp in Paducah, Ky.
Dear Perpadu:
Marry the girl, and jump her bones!
  Wouldn't it be
true bliss just to die in each other's arms?
