Large Date and Small Date varieties exist. The Large
Date variety is more scarce, although several positional
varieties exist. The Large Date logotype must be seen to
be believed: it is enormous, and takes nearly all the room
between the bust of Liberty and the rim. According to one
source, the logotype was intended for a silver dollar.
Sometimes, dealers will
mistakenly offer the "Small Date" variety as "Large Date", as
even the "Small Date" logotype is above average in size.
Both varieties typically come weakly struck.
