G'day My name is David Wilks and this is my recolection of the 1996 Aussie Titles.
A big cyclone off the coast of Queensland was creating a huge ground swell and sending it strait into the beaches of southern Queensland. The rest of my crew and I Arrived in Queensland on Wednsday night We could here the swell pounding on to the beach but we didn't know how big it was so we unpacked and went to bed excited about what was going to happen over the next few days. The next morning the boys woke up early to the cry of look at that "BOOMER" coming from there strokes mouth(They woke up to this call every morning for the next three days) this brought everyone rushing from their beds and out on to the balcony. We couldn't believe our eyes it was huge the biggest we had seen in our lives the waves were breaking 60 metres off the shore on the outside bank.
