Directions: Head toward Bar Harbor on Route 3. Enter Acadia National Park at Hull's Cove. Just stay on the park road. You will pass by the entrance road to Cadillac Mountain. A mile or so after passing the Bubble Pond parking area, you will see Jordan Pond below you on your right. Look for the road to the boat launch on your right. It is at the end of the road which leads to overflow parking for the Jordan Pond House. The road is right at a pipe gate which is used to close off the road you are on in the winter time. If you come to the Pond House, you have gone just a little too far. You can drive down to the launch to drop your boat off, and than drive back up the road, and find a parking place wherever you can.
Paddling Information: Although parking may be difficult at this boat launch, there is not much boating activity on the lake. You may even have it all to yourself on occasions. It is hikers, bikers, and visitors to the Jordan Pond House which make it so busy. Jordan Pond House has rest rooms, a gift shop where snacks are available, and a restaurant which is famous for popovers and tea in the afternoon. The scene from the Pond House lawn as well as from the lake are spectacular. On the western side of the lake, you are looking up at the cliffs of Penobscot Mountain. At the north end of the lake two small hills called the bubbles are a favorite photographic moment. Jordan Pond is the water supply for the village of Seal Harbor, so there is no swimming in the pond.
