Street Fighter Animation

Hehe. Sorry about this horrible picture. When I find a better one i'll put it up. Anyway, this is just my small review of the anime Street Fighter film and series.

Street Fighter II: The animated movie

The Street Fighter 2 animated movie came out awhile ago. The character designs were done by Shuko Murase. The story takes place in the near future were Bison is constantly looking for powerful martial artist to brain-wash and put under his control. Then he discovered Ryu, the most powerful fighter on the planet and tried to hunt him down. Meanwhile, Ryu is unaware of this and continues his training as he runs into Fei Long, Dhalsim, and E-Honda. Ryu proves to be a hard man to find so Bison captures Ken instead. Alied with Chun li, Guile and other fighter, Ryu takes part in the ultimate showdown. This was the first (actualy only) animated Street Fighter movie. The animation is excellent and the fight scens are good (especially the fight between Vega and Chun li). Theres some kind of rock music by sony in some parts of the film (if u ask me i don't like it) and you get to see most of the characters from the game. As for the story it's not bad for a fighting anime. Any diehard SF fan would love this film.

Street Fighter II V

Street Fighter 2 V is the anime OVA series released by manga entertainment. The series had more of an impact on me than the movie. This new series featured the characters before any movie or game. Ken and Ryu are the main characters (duh) and are both 17 yrs old. Ken invited Ryu to America and after they were beat up by Guile they decided not to let it happen again. They travel the world looking for powerful Street Fighters to challenge.

I found this series very enjoyable. The story turned out pretty good for a fighting anime. The character designs were well done. Each character had their own unique persona and had more personality than what the game pursues. Ken is not just a rich spoiled city guy (although it is funny the way he used his wealthy family name for his own benefit), and Ryu is not just country bumpkin obsessed with fighting. Even the bad guys got personality (Vega a sick one). Manga entertainment finished releasing all 26 episodes (3 per tape) so the series has come to an end. Ryu does most of his signified moves he has in the games so this would prove satisfying to fans of the game. If you haven't seen it yet and are a big Street Fighter or cartoon/anime fan you won't be dispointed. There fun. Everything about this seris--the music, the dubbing, the fights, the animation--its all pretty impresive. The story, however, doesn't follow up on the movies plot (its even better if you ask me). But this doesn't endanger the enjoyment you'll find watching Street Fighter 2 V.
