China news on line

  1. The China news from the South China Morning Post! Go right to this site, their China page, each morning and get the top 4-6 stories on China. Thanks, J.E.!
  2. Visit China Information Network, set up by the PRC government, for the latest laws, regulations, and speeches. (Sorry, all in Chinese). This is a great site! Thanks, X.M.!
  3. Customize what news you want to see each day through Excite's NewsTracker. Give Excite up to 50 parameters for the type of news you want and they will 'track' articles that fit your criteria, from a slew of reputable news sources. Takes a while to tweak, but can definitely help you stay abreast of news in your particular field. You have to look at it on line, but you can save the stories to your hard drive.
  4. Internet Technologies has a wealth of information on every sector of the booming Chinese economy, but they are the makers of Souhoo, the best Chinese search engine, which is similar toYahoo. Thanks, J.H.!

China e-mail news services

  1. China News Digest e-mails you a range of news information from top stories to sports to items the PRC government doesn't report on. They e-mail briefs 2-3 times per week, and also have a web site. The best source for relevant China/Taiwan/Hong Kong news. You can send an e-mail to cnd-www@cnd.org and ask for information about how to sign up for their service.
  2. On a LIGHTER NOTE, to get the latest on what's happening in Beijing, sign up for a FREE social events newsletter. Email: Xianzai@ListServe.com with subscribe as the subject. See what's happening on the Beijing social scene.
  3. For PRC business news, sign up for the US commercial section China briefs. To subscribe, send an email to: Daily-briefs-request@beijing.redfish.com. In the body of your message, write "subscribe daily-briefs" (without the quotes). We find the news to be basic (basically plucked from China Daily), but give it a try. Free. Sent daily, Monday through Friday. Don't miss the U.S. Embassy - China and the Commercial Section in Beijing.
